Sebelius admits errors, pays $7,000 in back taxes

The stories out of the Obama "administration" are so ridiculous its almost impossible to know where to begin.
Maybe that's why Democrats are okay with raising taxes, they don't pay them.
What else are you supposed to say?
Just like what is a teacher supposed to do when 10 kids in class refuse to sit down. You know what is supposed to happen, you know what the right behavior is...
But what do you really do when so many people don't care about doing the right thing?

Beyond AIG: A Bill to let Big Government Set Your Salary

We are at the point where people who voted for Obama should be ashamed of themselves.
However, it is not to late. We can all band together and try and stop the total government take over of our free society.

come on liberals...you were so mad when the government was listening to terrorists on the phone, but you are okay with them telling you how much you can make?
I admit I am not sure if this is more socialism or communism...I guess we should have been calling Obama a communist not a socialist...even though it has been proven for years that the leaders of the Democratic party are big fans of communism.
They are proving it every single day. They believe they can be themselves and do whatever they really want.
I'm afraid we have so many freeloaders, so many that think the government should be in control of every single part of our lives that we might never stop this.
I feel bad for anyone young person that was going to be able to work hard, gain needed skills and become successful. They now live in a world where success is punished so that the government can bring down the standard of living so it is closer to the standard the losers of society have.
So you are seeing the consequences of your actions right now...
Many of you are probably not smart enough to even realize what is going on right now, and maybe you don't care. Maybe you think we need to take down anyone who makes any real money so that everyone has a small pathetic amount.
It didn't work for the soviet union, it has never worked and it will never work.
We are watching the death of the freest and greatest country in the world right before our very eyes.

Obama will now cover your car warranty

We need a new word for this, socialism isn't even it now.

My friend was working a few nights ago and he was telling me how all these people that voted for Obama are wondering what the hell they did. Obama can tell CEO's to quit, he gives them billions then tells them maybe they should file for bankruptcy...and he is adding troops in the middle east.

The last one is a good thing, but all you bleeding hearts voted for him because he was going to get the troops home.

He has all of Europe telling him to knock it off...think about that for a minute. The very socialists we are trying to be like have started to learn there lesson, yet we are sprinting full steam ahead WAY past anything the average liberal or socialist could have ever dreamed.

Obama taxing health insurrance

So, during the election Obama really drilled McCain for wanting to tax health benefits and giving a tax credit to offset the costs. The media jumped right in.
Well, Obama has now said he wants to tax health care benefits, but there is something different...he doesn't want to give the tax credit.

I'll just stop there and allow liberals to be intellectually honest and get really really mad about this just like they were when they gave this as one of the reasons they didn't want to vote for him.

It kind of plays into my theory that liberals really don't care about anything, just being elected and having power.
Do Republicans change their minds on things...sure...however the media gets all over them and so to conservatives.
Remember..."Read my lips"

Fuller backs new choice regulation

I agree 100%

Just because you open up a private school doesn't make it good.
Many of these fly by night schools have few or no certified teachers and no regulation.
We get lots of these kids after their school shuts down and they tell us how they have done nothing but watch movies and sit around.

WTF

Punishing the Rich: Obama style

So we are going to raise the taxes of the successful and now take away their itemized deductions.
Once again, liberals think they are doing one thing but are actually doing another.
It is what happens when you base all decisions on emotion and not fact.

When you do not allow the "rich" to itemize deductions, that means they can not write off charitable contributions. Therefore, non-profits are going to suffer greatly.
So, the rich are spending less, firing workers because they have less money, and now the very organizations that are trying to help the people liberals pretend to care about will be gone.

So, is Obama doing this because he WANTS the only people able to help the ever growing helpless in society to be the govt?
Actually, I don't think so.

I think he is just a liberal simpleton and he really thinks he is sticking it to the rich, those evil bad people. He doesn't realize they prop up the arts, non-profit organizations that help the poor, create jobs with their spending habits.
Nope, Obama just thinks the rich have too much money and he is going to redistribute it to the poor...its that simple for a socialist like himself.

We are in for a world of hurt.

What is Obama afraid of?

The answer is looking stupid...but here is why I ask that...

SOURCE: Reporters were told in advance if president was going to call on them. Senior Administration Officials notified reporters from Stars & Stripes, Univision and other news outlets that they should have question ready. Several reporters moved up in assigned seats as result...

Obama skips major papers: No NYT, WASHPOST, WSJ, USATODAY...
OBAMA DITCHES TELEPROMPTER FOR GIANT TV MONITOR...

U.S. Seeks Expanded Power to Seize Firms

he Obama administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury secretary unprecedented powers to initiate the seizure of non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, whose collapse would damage the broader economy, according to an administration document.
The government at present has the authority to seize only banks.
Giving the Treasury secretary authority over a broader range of companies would mark a significant shift from the existing model of financial regulation, which relies on independent agencies that are shielded from the political process. The Treasury secretary, a member of the president's Cabinet, would exercise the new powers in consultation with the White House, the Federal Reserve and other regulators, according to the document.

Lets see...
The government is signaling out individuals it doesn't like to tax them more...
They are trying to gain the power to take over whatever fund makes them mad...
What does this sound like...
Give me a minute, it will come to me...

The country is slowly waking up to the fraud

It was clear to some of us (not enough) that Obama was not ready to lead a country since he never ran ANYTHING and couldn't even vote yes or no in the Senate...
The media didn't test him, but now he is forced to be tested, and he is showing us that being able to read a telepromter well and look good in a suit is not enough to run a country.
I really never thought ANYONE could be more uncomfortable and babbling that Bush. I never hid that fact. I would watch Bush in debates on the edge of my seat, waiting for him to mess up a sentence.
Obama is just flat out ridiculous...and even the media is figuring it out. I mean, I never questioned that the media loved their country, they do. They are just naturally liberal and believe that the country is better off liberal. Well, less than two months of this crazy liberal socialism and major media players and dumbfounded. We have never seen someone so unprofessional...

President Barack Obama said he believes the global financial system remains at risk of implosion with the failure of Citigroup or AIG, which could touch off “an even more destructive recession and potentially depression.”His remarks came in a“60 Minutes” interview in which he was pressed by Steve Kroft for laughing and chuckling several times while discussing the perilous state of the world’s economy.“You're sitting here. And you're— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, ‘I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money—’ How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asked at one point.“Are you punch-drunk?” Kroft said.

Obama's 'Tonight Show' gaffe one of many for president

For a man known as a great communicator, President Barack Obama can put his foot in his mouth from time to time.Although often deliberate and meticulous in his speaking style, Obama can also be prone to gaffes when he is relaxed or trying to have fun.Keenly aware of the stage, the coolly confident Obama can drift into trouble during unscripted moments. The most recent slip-up came Thursday evening as he sat on Jay Leno's couch and offered an ill-considered comment during a "Tonight Show" appearance. After telling Leno he had scored 129 in a recent bowling game, the president offered what he intended as self-deprecating humor. "It's like—it was like Special Olympics, or something," he said.
The timing of the gaffe is less than ideal for Obama, who has been subject to media teasing in recent weeks for his extensive use of a teleprompter. Before the Leno interview had even aired, the White House apologized for the comment. As Obama flew back to Washington on Air Force One, he called Tim Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics, to say he was sorry."The president believes that the Special Olympics are a triumph of the human spirit," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Friday. "He understands that they deserve a lot better than … the thoughtless joke that he made last night."Although all presidents have made comments that have gotten them in trouble—and Obama's predecessor had his share—today's 24/7 news environment raises the profile of such moments. At his first news conference as president-elect, Obama made a comment about former First Lady Nancy Reagan and seances. He had been explaining how he had reached out to former presidents for advice in the transition process, then joked that the list included only those still living. "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any seances," he said.Later that day, Obama called the former first lady to apologize for what aides called a "careless and off-handed remark."During a relaxed moment at a closed-door fundraiser in San Francisco, Obama said some working-class voters are "bitter" about their economic plight, a statement that would plague him."They cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," he said. Later he called those remarks "clumsy."Obama's famously poor bowling effort had been recorded just a few weeks earlier—almost exactly a year ago—as his campaign worked to battle suggestions that he was a liberal elitist who struggled to connect with working-class voters.Shortly before the flap over "bitter," Obama had been forced to clarify a comment he made to a Philadelphia radio station where he said his white grandmother was acting like a "typical white person" when she expressed fears after seeing blacks on the streets. And earlier in the primary season, he turned off some voters when he called Hillary Clinton "likable enough" during a debate, a comment that came off as smug. He also famously spoke about arugula, an upscale leafy green, in corn-fed Iowa. An exhausted candidate often found himself a bit lost."Thank you, Sioux City," Obama said last May in Sioux Falls. "How's it going Sunshine?" he said later that month in Sunrise, Fla.

Random sample of media bias

Lets see what the media has decided is an important story on the morning the President of the United States makes fun of special needs students.
I wonder what they would be talking about if a Republican would have said the same thing?

MSNBC: AIG flap heartens critics of high pay
small video on page one

CNN: Spitzer: 'I failed in a very important way'
link to Obama flap on page one

FOX: It Can Get Worse
story on the bottom of page one

UK telegraph: Obama calls head of Special Olympics to apologise after his late-night TV gaffe
You have to go to Europe for fair and balanced news?

To be honest, all the web sites had a story on page one. Wow, that means he REALLY screwed up...maybe thats why the President of the United States doesn't go on a late night comedy show.
Especially when the President sounds like an idiot without his teleprompter

Obama says he bowls like a retard

Just look at all the stupid things these guys have said. Just imagine how Bush would have been treated if he would have said these things. Video of all of them here

Perhaps Barack Obama was just trying to make Joe Biden feel better by dropping his clanger on Jay Leno. Whatever the President was thinking, 60 days into their new administration it's time for a post-election Obama-Biden Top 10, in reverse order:

10. Just after he's been sworn in by him, the newly-minted Vice President Joe Biden gets the name of Justice John Paul Stephens, "one of the great justices" of the Supreme Court, calling him "Justice Stewart":

9. Barack Obama jokes about Nancy Reagan having séances in the White House. He later called her to apologise after the AP noted that although she had consulted astrologers, "she did not hold conversations with the dead":

8. Joe Biden forgets the "website number" for the White House internet site designed to show how TARP money is being spent:

7. Barack Obama mixes up the windows and doors at his new home:

6. Joe Biden jokes about Chief Justice John Roberts fluffing the inauguration oath. The president is visibly annoyed with his veep and Biden later apologises:

5. A Marine One double. First, on his maiden Marine One trip Obama breaches protocol and makes life uncomfortable for an enlisted marine by shaking the the serviceman's hand as he's saluting his commander-in-chief:
Then - Gerald Ford, eat your heart out. Barack Obama bangs his head as he boards his helicopter:

4. Joe Biden tells his wife that he had the choice of being either Secretary of State or vice-president - an offer that was news to Obama aides and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when Jill Biden spilled the beans on Oprah:

3. Gordon Brown presents the new President with: a pen holder carved from the timbers of HMS Gannett, a sister ship of HMS Resolute; the commissioning certificate of HMS Resolute; and a seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill. In return, the Prime minister gets 25 DVDS, which don't work in Britain:

2. Joe Biden tells a former Senate colleague who addresses him as "Mr Vice-President" to "give me a f---ing break":

1. The latest one takes the biscuit. Barack Obama jokes about the disabled on the Jay Leno show. Afterwards, he calls the head of the Special Olympics to apologise:

NB I've only included gaffes committed since the presidential election on November 4th. In October, I did this blog on the top dozen campaign gaffes, which features several from Obama and Biden.

About the AIG bonuses

Just remember a few things about the bonuses...
Obama is running around like a 3rd grader saying "It's not my fault, but I'll fix it"
Hey, that is great political talk...
But here are the facts:
The provisions to allow the bonuses are in the huge bailout Obama pushed through so fast no one was able to even read it.
People he appointed knew all about the bonuses for months and said nothing.
I understand Obama has to trust the people he puts in power and he doesn't know EVERYTHING about EVERY bill, and it would be impossible to know all that, but essentially when you hire people to do a job and they screw up, its your fault, so stop blaming everyone else.

So the point of this post is that Obama needs to stop lying that he had nothing to do with it. His administration pushed through the stimulus bill at record speed and his people knew about the bonuses.
On a side note, did you know that congress wants to single out individual private citizens, publish their names to the public, and tax them 90% of their bonuses...the same bonuses they all voted to let them have?
amazing.

President telepromter

Obama was at a party the other night (not sure if it was last night) and the teleprompter had the wrong President's speech. So Obama started reading it and was thanking himself for throwing a great party.
This guy is a complete moron.
What would have happened if Bush would have done this?
The video and tape would be all over the internet in five seconds.
No audio
No video
It doesn't fit the template. Never mind Obama is so stupid he ALWAYS have to read from a teleprompter. Never mind he is so f-ing dumb he reads multiple lines from someone else's speech thanking himself for throwing a good party.
Unbelievable.

Obama climate plan could cost $2 trillion

trillion here, trillion there...
Man, where is that outrage we had when Bush didn't balance the budget?
We are spending money at ridiculous levels.
Now we want to tax the crap out of business, the people who SHOULD be creating jobs and not the government, for the fake religion of global warming.

I never thought we could elect someone who could destroy the economy with more efficiency than Carter. The only good thought you can have right now is that Carter brought Reagan, lets hope there is a Reagan somewhere and not so many freeloaders that now NEED liberals to stay in charge so they can have their mediocre lifestyle.

Britain apologises for 'Third World' hospital

Here is the "change" Obama is going to bring to our health care system.
Actually, if he keeps being a hard core monopoly money liberal, our entire country might start looking like a third world country.
Lets hope in two year the American people have had enough of total liberal power and get some people in congress to stop him.

Obama to make history with Leno as he becomes the first sitting president to appear on chat show

Should read:
Obama makes history by being the first sitting President to lower the standard off the office so low he will appear on late night comedy show.
Maybe he can have a press conference about the NCAA tournament.

Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama.
The A.I.G. Financial Products affiliate of A.I.G. gave out $136,928, the most of any AIG affiliate, in the 2008 cycle. I would note that A.I.G.’s financial products division is the unit that wrote trillions of dollars’ worth of credit-default swaps and "misjudged" the risk.

Despite this news, Dodd wrote it in the agreement with AIG that they could give those bonuses.
So again, Obama needs to yell about something to keep the attention off the ruin he is making of this country...so blame some execs who are getting bonuses you already knew about...
And does anyone know what the bonuses are for?
Did their part of the company do well?
Is everyone so simple to think that AIG is failing in all areas?
I agree, if any execs were given money when the part of the company they ran did not make money, that is a crime...
I want to see the facts that the people who got bonuses didn't deserve them...
Until I do this is just Obama taking attention off himself and the policies that more and more Americans are figuring out are a disaster

Old age begins at 27: Scientists reveal new research into ageing

Old age is often blamed for causing us to misplace car keys, forget a word or lose our train of thought.
But new research shows that many well-known effects of ageing may start decades before our twilight years.
According to scientists, our mental abilities begin to decline from the age of 27 after reaching a peak at 22.

Obama's Poll Numbers Are Falling to Earth

now, when Bush's numbers started falling, I didn't care because I believed he was doing what was best for the country.
Don't make this an argument about the war in Iraq right now please.
However, I really dont know any economist or really, no one that thinks recklessly spending all this money is a good thing.
Now, I have to admit the people I know are professionals, they are successful people. I am not saying they are all conservative, some are liberal. One even needed govt assistance for a year. Even he, a hard core liberal, doesn't understand what Obama is doing.
I would be very glad to get this guy out of here in four years, but not at the expense of our country.

proving the difference between conservative and liberal "compassion" with facts

First, lets look at how "poor" they are:
At the Democratic National Convention, for example, there were heartfelt tributes to the daunting self-sacrifice of both Barack and Michelle Obama for passing up lucrative jobs to work in "public service" -- which apparently is now defined, such as in Michelle Obama's case, as "working as a 'diversity coordinator' at a big city hospital for $300,000 a year."
Meanwhile, the average salary for a lawyer with 20 years or more experience in the U.S. is a little more than $100,000.

I have said and proved for years that liberals want to help the poor by taking your money and giving it to the poor, conservatives choose to give the money to whom they want...actually making conservatives more "compassionate"

According to their tax returns, in 2006 and 2007, the Obamas gave 5.8 percent and 6.1 percent of their income to charity. I guess Michelle Obama has to draw the line someplace with all this "giving back" stuff. The Bidens gave 0.15 percent and 0.31 percent of the income to charity.

Meanwhile, in 1991, 1992 and 1993, George W. Bush had incomes of $179,591, $212,313 and $610,772. His charitable contributions those years were $28,236, $31,914 and $31,292. During his presidency, Bush gave away more than 10 percent of his income each year. For purposes of comparison, in 2005, Barack Obama made $1.7 million -- more than twice President Bush's 2005 income of $735,180 -- but they both gave about the same amount to charity. That same year, the heartless Halliburton employee Vice President Dick Cheney gave 77 percent of his income to charity. The following year, in 2006, Bush gave more to charity than Obama on an income one-third smaller than Obama's. Maybe when Obama talks about "change" he's referring to his charitable contributions

Bush...I mean Obama issues a signing order

On another potentially controversial matter, the president also issued a "signing statement" with the bill, saying several of its provisions raised constitutional concerns and would be taken merely as suggestions. He has criticized President George W. Bush for often using such statements to claim the right to ignore portions of new laws, and on Monday he said his administration wouldn't follow those issued by Bush unless authorized by the new attorney general.
White House officials have accused Bush of using the statements to get around Congress in pursuing anti-terror tactics.

The Pro Bowl is returning to Hawaii.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority board voted 9-1 on Friday to accept the NFL’s offer to return to the islands.
The board rejected two previous proposals, but under mounting pressure reconsidered its latest refusal to pay the NFL $4 million a year to host the all-star game at Aloha Stadium in 2011 and 2012.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the state of Hawaii, which has embraced the Pro Bowl for 30 years,” Frank Supovitz, the NFL’s senior vice president of events, said in a statement.
The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played in Miami a week before the Super Bowl after a 30-year run in Hawaii in which every game was a sellout.
Supovitz said placing the Pro Bowl in the islands on a rotational basis will maintains its ties to Hawaii while making it more accessible to fans on the mainland.
Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona testified in favor of returning the Pro Bowl, saying “Hawaii is the Pro Bowl.”
“San Francisco has the 49ers, Denver has the Broncos … Hawaii has the Pro Bowl,” Aiona said during his brief presentation.
A similar proposal was rejected a week ago by the board. The NFL then turned down the state’s offer to completely rework another deal. However, the NFL agreed to possibly return the Pro Bowl to the Sunday after the Super Bowl depending on the success, or failure, of the 2010 game in Miami.
“Now we do have the option of the Pro Bowl going back to the traditional after the Super Bowl date if 2010 isn’t successful,” board chairman Kelvin Bloom said.
Bloom said that was a key point in the board approving the bid.
The board last week expressed concerns that attendance and viewership could drop because of the NFL’s experiment to move the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl. That would essentially eliminate Super Bowl players from participating in the all-star game.
This year’s Pro Bowl MVP was Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who also starred in the Super Bowl.
The board also had expressed concern about spending millions amid the economic downturn.
But five board members switched their “no” votes from last week, when the board voted 6-4 against the proposal.
“I have made some mistakes in the past and maybe this is one of them,” said board member Stephen Yamashiro.
Yamashiro said he was lobbied “passionately” in the past week by Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who also contacted other board members.
Board member Sharon Weiner was one of the most vocal opponents last week, but also reversed her vote.
In an interview, Weiner said she realized the benefits to the community after talking with officials in the hotel and airline industry, as well as Hannemann. But she’s still concerned about devoting so much money from a budget that has been cut from to $71 million from $88 million in the past year.
“We don’t know what our budget is going to be in 2011, so we’re committing to a budget that we don’t know what will be. So there’s real risks here for us,” Weiner said. “We needed to consider, reconsider and make sure we’ve handled all of the considerations before we made this very important decision.”
Kyoko Kimura, a hotel executive from Maui, cast the only vote against the Pro Bowl proposal.
Kimura didn’t raise any objections during the brief discussion before the vote. After the meeting, she said the Pro Bowl’s economic and community benefits is not felt on the island outside Oahu.
Last month’s Pro Bowl generated $28.6 million in spending and $2.9 million in taxes. It also helped market the state, which is heavily dependent on tourism.

Obama's safety net: the TelePrompter

just think about the comments made if Bush would have done this..."stupid" would be the first one
So, why doesn't anyone say this about Obama?
Is it:
1. The media template has liberals being smart and republicans dumb no matter what the facts may say.
2. Cause he's black and if you call him stupid you are racist

Anyone who has to speak from a teleprompter ALL THE TIME can't be to bright.
Look at all the dumb stuff he said on the campaign trail without it...
spread the wealth and 56 states just to name a few...

if he had any confidence he wouldn't need one all the time...

The "recovery" continues

Obama calls this a "fluctuation" in the market. It isn't a fluctuation if it never goes up.

Baby dies; parent charged

How can anyone be so heartless...
I'll save the comment I want to make...
This kind of person doesn't need to be apart of our society anymore

The Obama Economy

As 2009 opened, three weeks before Barack Obama took office, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9034 on January 2, its highest level since the autumn panic. Yesterday the Dow fell another 4.24% to 6763, for an overall decline of 25% in two months and to its lowest level since 1997. The dismaying message here is that President Obama's policies have become part of the economy's problem.
Americans have welcomed the Obama era in the same spirit of hope the President campaigned on. But after five weeks in office, it's become clear that Mr. Obama's policies are slowing, if not stopping, what would otherwise be the normal process of economic recovery. From punishing business to squandering scarce national public resources, Team Obama is creating more uncertainty and less confidence -- and thus a longer period of recession or subpar growth.

The Democrats who now run Washington don't want to hear this, because they benefit from blaming all bad economic news on President Bush. And Mr. Obama has inherited an unusual recession deepened by credit problems, both of which will take time to climb out of. But it's also true that the economy has fallen far enough, and long enough, that much of the excess that led to recession is being worked off. Already 15 months old, the current recession will soon match the average length -- and average job loss -- of the last three postwar downturns. What goes down will come up -- unless destructive policies interfere with the sources of potential recovery.

‘New Europe’ Longs for Bush as Obama Turns Focus to EU, Russia

Just wait, little by little you will be able to replace "new Eurpoe" with any group, accept the morons who think they are getting free kitchens and cars and houses from Obama.

It's a freaking joke now. We are playing with monopoly money. He gets on TV and SAYS that people need to be responsible, but then his new budget is in the hole by many multiple times more than any Bush budget.

Thats another thing, liberals went nuts when Bush had deficit spending after 9/11....so okay liberals, now that Obama has blown any Bush debt out of the water..I'll give you a chance to show you actually care about deficit spending and are not simply yelling cause Bush is a Republican.

Media bias of the week

Its easier than ever to find this stuff now that the media is apart of the Church of Obama

1. CNN: Obama Leading U.S. 'Into Sunlight' & 'Up to Mountaintops' CNN personalities Jack Cafferty and David Gergen continued the chorus of praise for President Obama on Wednesday evening for his first address to a joint session of Congress, twenty-four hours after he had given it. During his regular "Question of the Hour" segment on The Situation Room, Cafferty gushed that the Democrat "had that place in the palm of his hand for the entire time he was in that room" and, despite all the serious issues he discussed during the speech, that the President "seems remarkably unruffled by all of this, serene in an inner confidence that he's got what it takes to lead this country back into the sunlight." Later that evening on Anderson Cooper 360, it was apparent that Gergen's afterglow about the address hadn't subsided from the previous evening. He described it as a "rousing speech, took us up to the mountaintops."
2. Meredith Vieira Cites 'Conservative' David Brooks to Bash Jindal On Thursday's Today show, NBC's Meredith Vieira invited on former George W. Bush assistant Mary Matalin to discuss the excessive spending in Barack Obama's budget, and the interview got off to a promising start as Vieira actually asked Matalin: "Do you see it as a disaster in the making?" However the segment quickly turned sour when Vieira cited a critique of Bobby Jindal's post-Obama address response by New York Times columnist David Brooks and claimed: "Conservatives were criticizing him for stale ideas. He didn't say anything, nothing new."
3. MSNBC's David Shuster Touts Jindal as Beavis and Butt-head Insult MSNBC's 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue host David Shuster on Wednesday delighted in a comparison of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal to the MTV characters Beavis and Butt-head. Shuster singled out the Republican, who gave the GOP response to Barack Obama's February 24 congressional address, in his "hypocrisy watch" segment. The MSNBC host slammed "Jindal's hypocrisy" for criticizing what he called wasteful spending, including volcano monitoring. (According to Shuster, Jindal is a hypocrite because, while the governor attacked volcano monitoring, he's also asked for comprehensive flood and hurricane funds for his own state.) The anchor gleefully recounted an attack by liberal New York Times writer Paul Krugman. Reading from Krugman's column, he recited: "The intellectual incoherence is stunning. The party of ideas has become the party of Beavis and Butt-head." Agreeing with the juvenile insult, Shuster added: "Beavis and Butthead? Well, Krugman didn't say which one Jindal is. Nonetheless, all of us at 1600 agree with the larger point."
4. Garofalo: 'Self-Loathing' Steele, Eva Braun Types Like Limbaugh On Thursday's Countdown show, left-wing actress and comedienne Janeane Garofalo appeared to talk about a recent poll finding that Rush Limbaugh is substantially less popular with women than with men. Evoking laughter from MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, Garofalo remarked that "the type of female that does like Rush is the same type of woman that falls in love with prisoners." After citing serial killers Richard Ramirez and Charles Manson, she then compared women who like Limbaugh to Adolf Hitler's girlfriend, Eva Braun: "Eva Braun, Hitler's girlfriend. That is exactly the type of woman that responds really well to Rush." After mentioning that former CNN anchor Daryn Kagan used to date Limbaugh, Garofalo cracked that Kagan has Stockholm Syndrome, which she also attributed to RNC Chairman Michael Steele, with Olbermann agreeing that Steele suffers from "self-loathing."
5. CBS's Early Show: Junk Food Ban/Tax Needed to Prevent Cancer On Thursday's CBS Early Show, correspondent Richard Roth reported on a new cancer study that found that obesity can increase the likelihood of getting cancer: "Aside from avoiding smoking, the report says that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the most important thing you can do for cancer prevention. That means diet, physical activity, and weight management...The report recommends laws and policy changes by government, industry, and schools, from adding bicycle lanes to public roads to banning junk food from vending machines." Following Roth's report, co-host Julie Chen spoke with Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, an oncologist and brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and asked: "In light of this report, how big of a role do you think government should play in making sure Americans lead a healthier lifestyle?"
