Summerfest has lowest attendance since 1993

Attendance at the 11-day music festival on the lakefront slumped to 831,024, the smallest crowd to push through the turnstiles since 1993. Revenue from ticket, food and beverage sales turned downward as well, roughly 4% below the take from the 40th anniversary year of 2007.

This is the way Smiley wants it I guess...not the drop in revenue, but the drop in attendance...
How long with the Summerfest board be okay with this?

Mhnnnhhhuuunnnn....

Is "attendance" the goal?

I know that it was during the early years of S'fest--which is why the accountant devised a creative-attendance-measuring method of WEIGHING the admission tickets, rather than actually counting them.

And then there were some rather unpleasant effects...resulting in large numbers of arrests.

The types of individuals these events draw, regardless of music, do not know how to behave in public, and decent human beings choose not to subject themselves to that anymore.

Also, people aren't into live music the way they were before.

That's the way it is here, anyway.

Tonight, there is a Bon Jovi concert in the park, but that is free.

It will nonetheless be a zoo.
