Gallup Daily: Obama Stretches Lead to 8 Points

So the convention gave him a 7 point bump...atleast at this point...is that good enough?
What will Palin give McCain?
What will the Republican convention do for McCain?

obama's vp choice is a political decision and mccain's isn't? holy crap, what a joke!

palin goes from beauty queen to mayor of a town of 8,000 to governor of a state of 600,000 and now first in line for president.

in the first major decision of each candidate, obama picks probably the most qualified person available and mccain picks sarah palin to placate the base.

mccain puts country first? who's the patriot here?

"mayor of a town of 8,000 to governor of a state of 600,000"

Once again, Democrats can't resist to attack smalltown America.

You guys really do have a tin ear! It is a shame, since you guys had a real chance to win Colorado and Virginia this time.

jason, are you that big an idiot or simply well-versed in the gop think up anything "skill?" my statement makes no attack whatsoever on smalltown america. it speaks to the size of the problems palin has dealt with like a town workforce of 100 people.

So I suppose you all think Tom Barrett is qualified to be VP?

from andrew sullivan:

We have had two big presidential decisions from both candidates - the first time we can clearly judge their decision-making skills. Obama's was prudent, cautious, thoroughly vetted, and serious about governing. McCain's was impulsive, rash, barely vetted and decided at the last minute by a small coterie that left everyone else gasping.

We are at war. Another 9/11 is possible. Israel may attack Iran. Pakistan may go up in smoke. Putin may invade another country. Who would you rather have as president?

Tom Barrett is executive of a city almost as populous as Alaska. Plus he has federal experience ...

Pulin is way hotter than Tom Barrett too Jay...near the top of the list on what I look for in a VP...:)

"saint andrew, the heartachingly gobsmacked" is hardly an authority on american politics, regardless of what he's managed to convince himself

if self-styled conservatives had cultivated and supported the sarah palins of the past twenty years, rather than the usual neocon sockpuppets, the nation would not have had half the problems, and a quarter of the hostility from within, that we are forced to contend with now

"[sullivan] is hardly an authority on american politics". not any less than comedians limbaugh and hannity. but i didn't quote him as an expert, only to provide attribution for something i think is quite correct and wanted to share.

you have a point about nurturing the palins of the party.
