Obama opts out of public campaign finance system

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday he'll bypass the federal public financing system in the general election, abandoning an earlier commitment to take the money if his Republican rival did as well.

Obama shows again he is a liar, and it is politics as usual
Let's see how many stories we get about this on tonight's newscasts...
The obvious media bias is really getting sickening...
Did they report on the Muslim women getting tossed out of pictures with Obama yet?
Was it on all the nightly news shows last night?
With fair media coverage Obama would get his ass kicked.

And just read another lame-ass, empty answer from Obama.

"But the public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken, and we face opponents who've become masters at gaming this broken system."

Way to say NOTHING again

GREAT response from McCain:
The McCain campaign, in a statement, said Obama "has revealed himself to be just another typical politician who will do and say whatever is most expedient for Barack Obama.
"Barack Obama is now the first presidential candidate since Watergate to run a campaign entirely on private funds. This decision will have far-reaching and extraordinary consequences that will weaken and undermine the public financing system."

kind of shoots down your own argument of politics as usual, doesn't it?

No, anonymous socialist, it shoots down all your "clean funding" bushwa. If government financing of campaigns was so great, Obama would be totally within that system.

and of course mccain is breaking the law. he decries obama's supposed flip-flop while "McCain himself is at this moment breaking the law in continuing to spend over the spending limits he promised to abide by through the primary season in exchange for public financing. (By the FEC's rules, we're still in the primary phase of the election and will be until the conventions."

he opted to abide by spending limits to get the loan that bailed him out last year and now he is exceeding those spending limits. not only flip-flopping but breaking the law.

Anonymous Socialist,

I don't think so. If McNuggets broke the law, have him arrested by a law enforcement official, not a mob of similarly deluded leftists.

The problem with you lefties is that you don't know and obey the law yourselves. Anyone who is successful against you must be breaking the law that of the liberals that says, a liberal shall never be defeated. As usual, that is another symptom of your mental illness.

Barack made a flip flop here and is wrong. Of course if John McCain could do it and make it work to his advantage I am convinced he would do the same, BHO was not my favorite candidate and I have no illusions that he will solve all our problems or get it all right. I am only hopeful that he will be a president I can be proud of. Unfortunately my other choice is absolutely stomach turning.

Yes, to answer your question. I am a news junkie and even in my "liberal" sources it was broadly reported. His decision on financing was a headline on nearly every newscast and blog. I will agree though, the media in this country sucks..really, really sucks.

and yet no mention whatsoever that mccain has ILLEGALLY exceeded spending limits he agreed to in order to secure a campaign-saving loan.

what liberal media?

and i suppose you are looking for a president that won't change his mind ever, ever, EVER, even if the situation changes.

Perhaps McCain will lose because of McCain-Feingold. Serves him right for siding with the socialists against free speech.

anon,
What the hell are you even talking about?
What has changed?
One of your talking points is that these 527's are unfair...when in reality they spend more for Dem's 2 to 1...
Nothing has changed but Obamas word and integrity

See game you don't even get the news. Only the news you want to hear. Do you ever go to liberal blogs or sites to see what they are talking about...Obviously not. McCain has opted in and out of campaign financing and is currently facing a lawsuit on such.

Like I said the media sucks..really really sucks.

I really am concerned about other things far more than this but your obvious lack of informed comment of both sides of the issue would make you a shitty talk host. They'd eat you alive brother. Believe me, I learned.
