Summerfest attendance, revenue climb

The good times continue to roll for Summerfest even in this difficult economic stretch as attendance and revenue climbed compared with last year, festival officials announced Friday.
Attendance at the 11-day lakefront music festival, which wrapped up July 4, totaled 856,254, an increase of 2.5% over last year's 835,679, Milwaukee World Festival Inc. reported Friday.
Preliminary estimates show combined revenue from gate and concert ticket sales and food and beverage commissions exceeded last year's totals by 1.3%, festival officials said in a news release.
