President In Deep Trouble With Middle Class; Many Think His Attempt To 'Reconnect' Shows Serious Desperation

President Barack Obama plans to use his state of the union address to "reconnect" with the middle class.

Some say it's an open admission to many here in the tri-state area that he has failed to feel our pain and our needs.

From his war on the banks -- the lifeblood of the metropolitan area economy -- to his health care reform which could cost taxpayers here over $1 billion, President Obama's policies have sent a strong message to the tri-state area that Washington doesn't care about the middle class.

Ever notice how Republicans never "repackage" themselves like Obama, and Clinton, and Gore to name a few. Bush did what he thought was right, didn't lose a House or Senate seat for SIX years, Obama will lose a great deal in two.

So what does this mean?
I few options:
1. He is always in campaign mode so he has to kiss ass to the people in front of him.
2. He is too stupid to know the difference between a medal of honor and medal of freedom
3. He doesn't care about the difference because he could care less about the military
4. He shows even more of his "love" for the military by giving "shout-outs" to people for the wrong reason before getting around to talking about soldiers getting killed.

I could keep writing, but this at minimum shows something is wrong with him.
When a President isn't allowed to read off a prompt, to prepare, you see what kind of person they are...
Obama has shown he is not ready for prime time, has no ability to think on his own, talk without reading off a prompt, and I guess he resorts back to the non-emotional babble he usually does.

If Obama in general wasn't a national emergency I would say this is not either...it just seems so weird..
But he keeps doing things no other President has ever done...
Oh wait, I forget, Lincoln gave a few "shout outs" before reading the Gettysburg address..my bad

Why was it a controversy?
For me, the problem was what came AFTER the speech, the assignments that had kids write about and keep track of what they were going to do to help OBAMA..not the country, not the community, not anything that would be what they should be thinking about..the thought process was arrogant and self-centered. It goes along with the message that Obama will save everyone, that everyone needs help from him.
Which contradicts everything he said in his speech today.
The speech was great. It gave the exact conservative message that kids need to hear, especially inner city kids. That it is up to THEM to get an education, it is up to them to go to school and actually pay attention and do homework. Stop blaming everyone accept who actually should be blamed. I taught in inner city schools for 8 years. I had great lessons, and the kids who came and listened learned a lot. Of course, the ones that really needed to hear what I had to say were not there or not paying attention.
However, if even 10% of kids who are not working hard or who have bought into liberal indoctrination that everything will be done for you actually listen to Obama's message today that would be a huge success.
That would be 10% of kids that will read at grade level and get into a college or trade school. It would be more successful than millions of dollars of liberal programs.

Really? I thought their job was to determine if laws passed by the legislature are constitutional...sounds a lot like legislating from the bench. Hum...

so Obama releases memos about how we get information from terrorists. He says we will not do anything like this anymore.
This is supposed to be good for the United States.
Liberals really dont understand human nature or really anything, do they?
Terrorists are never going to stop torturing whomever they want whenever they can, no matter what we do.
So all we did was make America less safe.
Many officials and experts have since stated that many horrific attacks were thwarted because of these "terrible" torture techniques.
But I guess liberals would rather be nice to terrorists and let whole cities be blown up...so I guess terrorists rights are more important than American lives.
Obama has given our enemies ammunition that will be used against us for the next 50 years.
I would love to see a liberal actually debate this issue, but you can't. If anyone even responds it will be some sort of "joke" or a smart ass comment that doesn't address anything.

I keep seeing him spending us to high heaven, saying he is sorry and don't blame him for our terrible terrible past, as if we are terrible people, he gets buddy buddy with dictators...
And you know what...here is what I want.

Dems should agree to just shut up and go away.

Second, why is it that most European leaders and the press are actually looking honestly at BHO yet the American media is so ga-ga about him that we need two days of coverage about his new dog.

But after five weeks in office, it's become clear that Mr. Obama's policies are slowing, if not stopping, what would otherwise be the normal process of economic recovery. From punishing business to squandering scarce national public resources, Team Obama is creating more uncertainty and less confidence -- and thus a longer period of recession or subpar growth.

The Democrats who now run Washington don't want to hear this, because they benefit from blaming all bad economic news on President Bush. And Mr. Obama has inherited an unusual recession deepened by credit problems, both of which will take time to climb out of. But it's also true that the economy has fallen far enough, and long enough, that much of the excess that led to recession is being worked off. Already 15 months old, the current recession will soon match the average length -- and average job loss -- of the last three postwar downturns. Where is the stimulus in the stimulus package?

Most economist agree the best way to stimulate the economy is to provide tax cuts.
Obama campaigned that there would be huge tax cuts for most Americans.
It is a fact to anyone with a clue that Dems simply say things to get elected. They are not the dumb ones, that would be the people who believe them.
So here is the $13 a week workers will get in tax cuts. I can just feel the economy taking off now.
Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people's paychecks when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Critics say that's unlikely to do much to boost consumption.

The second best way to stimulate the economy is with in increase in infrastructure spending. This is the ONLY way Obama talked about the "stimulus" package when he first started talking about it.
$46 billion would go to transportation projects such as highway, bridge and mass transit construction; many lawmakers wanted more.

Most of this is pushing through the liberal agenda Dems have wanted to do for 40 years. They know that no one would agree and actually vote for this stuff on its own, but they think they can get it done now.

Just go back and watch that town hall meeting to see where we are headed. There are more and more people that think they should be given everything. A house, a washer, a kitchen, free this, free that.

That is not how America works, and it wont work.
You need a vast majority of people working hard and taking care of themselves so we can have extra resources to give a push to the people who need some help.
That is the way it used to be and based on the way things are right now they will probably never get back to that.
It is a shame.

President Obama made a surprise visit to the White House press corps Thursday night, but got agitated when he was faced with a substantive question. Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a Deputy Defense Secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face. "Ahh, see," he said, "I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can't end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I'm going to get grilled every time I come down here." Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, William J. Lynn III, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye. "Alright, come on" he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys - that's all I was trying to do."

Cracking after two days?
Well, he has never had a job that has prepared him for this, so I guess he better get some tough skin fast.
