Sources: Favre will sign with Vikings today

Quarterback Brett Favre is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings this afternoon, a Minnesota television reporter said, citing sources within the Vikings organization.
WCCO-TV reporter Mark Rosen is reporting Favre boarded a plane Tuesday morning at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport and that the plane landed later in the morning at a small airport in St. Paul, Minn., with Favre shaking hands with the ground crew before jumping into an SUV.
Sources told WLOX-TV that Favre boarded the plane in Mississippi by himself and commented, "We may know something by dinner."
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com wrote in a blog on Monday, after spending time around the Minnesota Vikings training camp, that a Favre return is still in the works.
"After visiting the Vikings for two days, I am convinced - positively convinced - that Brett Favre will soon have talks with the Vikings to return to the team and could be joining them for this season after all. If my instincts are correct, all those purple Favre jerseys will have a home on Minnesota store shelves," Glazer said.
He added: "During my two days in Mankato, nearly everyone I talked to within the team talked about Favre joining not as an 'if' but rather a 'when.' Players, coaches, team employees ... you name it, they seem to believe it."

I read what Braun said, and he is exactly correct.
I know there are tons of homers in Milwaukee who cant see anything objectively, but the Brewers will not be going anywhere if the pitching does not improve, period.

Yes, some of the "good" players might be clean and some not that great players are not clean.
But look at all the greats that we were sure have not cheated, but lately a bunch of those players have been caught.
A player like Albert Pujos seems next.
Now, the headline looks like he was taking viagra or something, but it seems like whatever he is taking is to fix a side effect of taking steroids at some point...

The Pro Bowl is returning to Hawaii.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority board voted 9-1 on Friday to accept the NFL’s offer to return to the islands.
The board rejected two previous proposals, but under mounting pressure reconsidered its latest refusal to pay the NFL $4 million a year to host the all-star game at Aloha Stadium in 2011 and 2012.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the state of Hawaii, which has embraced the Pro Bowl for 30 years,” Frank Supovitz, the NFL’s senior vice president of events, said in a statement.
The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played in Miami a week before the Super Bowl after a 30-year run in Hawaii in which every game was a sellout.
Supovitz said placing the Pro Bowl in the islands on a rotational basis will maintains its ties to Hawaii while making it more accessible to fans on the mainland.
Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona testified in favor of returning the Pro Bowl, saying “Hawaii is the Pro Bowl.”
“San Francisco has the 49ers, Denver has the Broncos … Hawaii has the Pro Bowl,” Aiona said during his brief presentation.
A similar proposal was rejected a week ago by the board. The NFL then turned down the state’s offer to completely rework another deal. However, the NFL agreed to possibly return the Pro Bowl to the Sunday after the Super Bowl depending on the success, or failure, of the 2010 game in Miami.
“Now we do have the option of the Pro Bowl going back to the traditional after the Super Bowl date if 2010 isn’t successful,” board chairman Kelvin Bloom said.
Bloom said that was a key point in the board approving the bid.
The board last week expressed concerns that attendance and viewership could drop because of the NFL’s experiment to move the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl. That would essentially eliminate Super Bowl players from participating in the all-star game.
This year’s Pro Bowl MVP was Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who also starred in the Super Bowl.
The board also had expressed concern about spending millions amid the economic downturn.
But five board members switched their “no” votes from last week, when the board voted 6-4 against the proposal.
“I have made some mistakes in the past and maybe this is one of them,” said board member Stephen Yamashiro.
Yamashiro said he was lobbied “passionately” in the past week by Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who also contacted other board members.
Board member Sharon Weiner was one of the most vocal opponents last week, but also reversed her vote.
In an interview, Weiner said she realized the benefits to the community after talking with officials in the hotel and airline industry, as well as Hannemann. But she’s still concerned about devoting so much money from a budget that has been cut from to $71 million from $88 million in the past year.
“We don’t know what our budget is going to be in 2011, so we’re committing to a budget that we don’t know what will be. So there’s real risks here for us,” Weiner said. “We needed to consider, reconsider and make sure we’ve handled all of the considerations before we made this very important decision.”
Kyoko Kimura, a hotel executive from Maui, cast the only vote against the Pro Bowl proposal.
Kimura didn’t raise any objections during the brief discussion before the vote. After the meeting, she said the Pro Bowl’s economic and community benefits is not felt on the island outside Oahu.
Last month’s Pro Bowl generated $28.6 million in spending and $2.9 million in taxes. It also helped market the state, which is heavily dependent on tourism.

Selig might make Aaron the home-run king

See, this might seem clear cut but I'm not so sure.
I hate Barry Bonds. He is a cheat and a liar.
When you look at him you know he cheated and lied and he does not deserve any record
He cheated Hank Aaron (who hit a vast majority of his HR's in Milwaukee) and all of us.
But then I look at A-Rod and the fact that he has slowly gotten bigger and better, along with the fact he is not an ass to everyone and has admitted to what he did for 3 years makes me more sympathetic to him.
So if/when he breaks Aarons or Bonds record I would not be so quick to say he should be disqualified.
The other problem is that it is hard to know everyone who cheated. So he was cheating, maybe the pitcher was cheating, they guy playing third was cheating. So maybe Bonds was just bringing himself up to the level of all the other cheaters.
So even though I think he does not deserve the record, I'm not so positive we can take away his record.

Grant, agent wait for Packers to call

This is getting a little old.
First, you treat one of the best QB's in NFL history like crap, then you can't even return the calls of your best RB.
It is rare for a team to actually TRY to be worse than the year before, but the Packers are going for it.
I'll watch the Brewers and let all the homers who are basically droids following the Packers deal with that mess.

Brett wants to be released

My take:

In regards to Brett...The Packers wasted his talent since about 1999 and have surrounded him with very average WR's and an average team. He should be pissed about that.However, the Packers are tired of him thinking about retiring every year, and they are moving on...Brett will be traded to a team the Packers do not play, unless they both make it to the play-offs...and I don't think the Packers or any team the Packers send Brett off to will be making the playoffs.

Hart procedure is needed

This is a sad story that happens all over SE Wisconsin and maybe the entire country.
People who actually pay taxes are unable to use facilities that tax payer money is supposed to support.
That is because we are spending so much of our money on people who pay very little taxes.
It should make anyone who pays taxes very mad. You pay and pay and pay, get less and less and less...and someone else who has been trained in learned helplessness from each new handout and program.

Nielsen estimates that an average aud of 19 million viewers watched the Boston Red Sox cap their rally in the best-of-seven series with an 11-2 victory on Sunday. That made it the most-watched program of the night -- besting "Desperate Housewives" on ABC and "Sunday Night Football" on NBC -- and will help Fox win the week's primetime ratings race among young adults and total viewers.
For the entire American League Championship Series, Fox averaged 11.6 million viewers

I would have never guessed baseball would EVER beat a football game, no matter what the match-up.
Baseball is a great game, and I'm glad to see more and more people enjoying it...
Unlike the NBA, which can't even get anywhere near 10 million a game for the finals...probably because it stopped being basketball about 8 years ago.
