Pat Buchanan suggests impeachment of Bush Over Illegal Immigration...

On Aug. 12, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency "due to a chaotic situation involving illegal alien smuggling and illegal drug shipments" on his southern border. Three days later, Gov. Janet Napolitano followed suit in Arizona.

I know this will make conservatives mad, but I agree with Pat Buchanan. It is a disgrace what ALL politicians have done with the boarder policy. The policy is to do nothing because that might upset the Mexican population, which is the largest growing group of voters.

Here is a great line from the article
A president like Teddy Roosevelt would have led the Army to the border years ago. And if Fox did not cooperate, T.R. would have gone on to Mexico City. Nor would Ike, who deported all illegal aliens in 1953, have stood still for this being done to the country he had defended in war.

Millions and millions of people are breaking the law and our government does nothing about it.
We are suppose to be fighting a war on terror, yet anyone from any country can just walk into this country from the Mexican border.

It is sad and it is hurting this country.

Illegal Immigrants Cost US $10 Billion - Study
Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household," Steve Camarota, author of the report.

roughly 25 percent of inmates are illegal immigrants.

In addition, the cities that receive the largest numbers of immigrants also have twice the unemployment rate, three times the population density, 40 percent more people living in poverty, and 40 percent more serious crime per capita than cities with few or no immigrant arrivals. (1)

All politicians should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen to our country. Since Bush is the head politician, he should be the most embarrassed on this issue. This is not a partisan issue, this affects all of us.

OK, I hate people that suck off the system... probably more than just about anybody. Illegally recieved benifits aside (government should more adequately screen the benifits given out), I don't think that many people outside of agricultural communities understand the dependance of agriculture on illegal workers. They are underpaid and overworked... and they don't mind it! It's a wonderful thing for farmers as well as for us consumers. If you had to pay workers minimum wage , the average costs of produce would skyrocket. Could you imagine paying $2 for an orange? $7 for a basket of strawberries? Would you be willing to sit out in 110 degree weather picking fruit or planting seeds by hand? I did that type of work and got paid $15 an hour and it wasn't worth it!
Language, that's another issue... I agree, people should attempt to assimilate into the country and learn the language, but the problem isn't isolated in the hispanic community, nor is it even isolated to illegals, in fact it's been a problem faced by this country since it's founding (there has always been immigrants that haven't spoken the language in America). Therefore, unless you are of strictly British heritage and your relatives spoke English before arriving here, you need to cut them a little slack, it takes sometimes a generation to become English speakers.
To sum up, if we made it impossible to suck up benefits (which are illegal to obtain anyway in many states) and deported illegal aliens in the prison system, then the illegals should be welcomed (or at least tolerated) and allowed a regulated passage back and forth across the border.

de:
did you see that illegals cost this country 10 billions dollars a year?
And if they all came here to work, why are 25% of people in prison illegals?
Even if they all were good people and wanted to work, a terrorist could walk right in with them.
Also, when people came here in the beginning and could not speak English, they learned the best they could. They either:
1. knew they had to if they wanted to have a part of the American dream
2. they loved America and wanted to be American.

My great grandpa spoke very little English, but he told my dad that they were not to speak Polish outside the home, because they lived in America. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that the immigrants of old assimilated and became successful, and today’s immigrants remain poor, do not assimilate, and live off the government...

I disagree with the impeachment suggestion; but I am disgusted by the illegal immigrant situation.

After 9/11, you'd think securing the borders would have been a priority.

The argument then is that some of the hijackers were in the country legally. So what?

That doesn't mean that we should make it easier for terrorists.

The immigration laws need to be enforced or tossed out.

If our elected officials aren't willing to enforce the law and they are so quick to give amnesty to illegals, they should be honest and stop pretending that they care about the borders and the country's well-being.

While they put out the welcome mat, they are placing a heavy and dangerous burden on us.

I wasn't exactly saying that I wanted to impeach Bush, but I thought the extreme headline is a good wake-up call.
