I just wanted to see what people thought about this issue...
I think most people will agree that the left fights harder to get what they want. They stick on message longer, they protest more and they scream louder....why?
One good example is federal and Supreme Court justices. In the 1990's when Clinton was appointing far left wing judges, Republicans just sat there and said nothing. Now Republicans are in charge, they elect moderate/right wing judges, the left filibusters, holds press conferences, slows down the work in the Senate, makes commercials, ect...and the Republicans sit there as dead as a deer in northern Wisconsin in November. Why such a difference?
I have two possible explanations:
1. Liberalism is more of an emotional reaction to the world. If you think about it, liberal ideas feel better to say..."everyone can share everything" "it takes a village" "everything can be solved by talking" and "everyone deserves a house, health care, food, a car and cable TV." It doesn't sound as good to say what the right thinks: "personal responsibility" "people can take care of themselves" and "it takes two parents."
So since liberalism is more of a thought process from the heart and emotions, liberals tend to be more emotional...they have more in them to scream and yell, protest in the streets, pound an issue to death until the other side gives up.
2. They know this is the way to get what they want. Many things important to the base of the Democratic party (gay marriage, abortion, no religion in public ever, and Multiple PC ideals) are not held by the majority of the American people...having all this energy to get conservative judges blocked and protest right into the cameras of the media does two things:
FIRST...Judges can legislate liberal ideals from the bench without laws being past. When was gay-marriage passed as a law? When was abortion made legal? When did a state outlaw prayer in school? These are all thing that judges made into laws. The American people would never pass these as laws, but the left knows this....they fight, and scream, and yell because they know if they lose this power tool they can not forward their agenda.
SECOND...With the media showing all these protest (Sheehan), eventually the American people just sit at home and thing EVERYONE thinks like the people on TV...they think they are wrong....they feel bad about what they think....they hide their feelings....so there is no one to oppose the protesters views even though a majority of Americans disagree with them.
So, why do you think the left fights so much harder than the right to win issues? Do you think there are different reasons?
Maybe you don't think the left does fight harder. Prove it.
I believe this to be true, I believe it works...and maybe the left is the smarter side for doing it.
And don't bother commenting if you are just going to say that the left fights harder because they are correct...

Well, I am called a liberal and I hate PC! It is not in my idea of liberal. It is a suppression of the freedom of speech.
I don't think Roberts is a "moderate". I expect the loyal opposition to do their part and note what might be question marks for some no matter what party is in power. I suspect when the vote goes down you will find most on both sides voting to let him on the bench.
I think you are right that most people sit around and watch TV and think that is how it is...sad huh?
RON!!!!!
He is finally here...
But you didn't really answer the main question...
Do you think liberals fight harder? and why?
Now ron, I'm not attacking you...just listen for a minute.
When you say Roberts is not a moderate...I think that is because you are not starting from the middle...I think most liberals are farther left than they think...if the American people are right at a "5" on a 1 to 10 scale...most liberals think the middle is closer to what is actually 3 or 4...did that make sense...
my facts...

American Bar Association give him a "well qualified" rating...the same qualifications most Bush judges who were filibustered received.
Breaking away from your question, Game.

Ron: Do you think Roberts is more Right than Ginsberg is Left?
If you say NO, you are being honest.
If you say YES, I hope you are correct.........
Why do they try harder?
-----------
And yes they do try harder.....They have to.
Overturning the social order, and creating disorder isn't easy.
I was going to make the point that when Ginsberg came up for a vote, Republicans did nothing...but it is hard to argue this point...
The fact that Ginsberg ran the ACLU makes me want to puke, but to a lib it is great...and I don't think any amount of blogging is going to change that...
The liberal campaign is just wrong right now. I believe that we should question our governemnt and disagree with policy we don't like. What I don't agree with is this purposeful slander and wicked intentions. Trying to prove that America is evil is not the way to build a stronger union. Liberals are forcing a greater divide in our country and they will be stunned by the backfire.
Rick...you have the closest answer to what I was going to add...
Conservative tend to be older, more wealthy and have families...so they are more worried about what is going on in their immediate life to worry about what is going on in the world of politics...
I still think the emotional reaction theory needs to be thrown in though...
Average Joe...there has been a backlash against liberal thought since 1994...and it seems as though many liberal politicians are actually moving farther to the left...and since the media doesn't even hide their bias anymore...the average person understands the left's message...and they are rejecting it...
