Once again there were around 5300 fans at the grandstand tonight. Pat Benetar was wonderful off the stage, as well as on. She belted out the six or seven songs I remember from the 80's...I'm sure they sounded as good tonight as they did when she first went on tour...
The surprise came off stage. She has by far been the nicest and most personable act so far this year. She talked with fans and security staff as if they were old friends. She didn't walk around as if she was the second coming of Christ.
Right before Pat went on, her manager asked me, "What do you call this place," I said, "The Wisconsin State Fair." "Wisconsin" he said...About two minutes later he said again, "Where are we." Now at this point, I could have said, "Illinois" and he would have said "How are we doing Illinois." It would have not been a good start to the show. I said, "Wisconsin, or you can say Milwaukee."
But even before that, the manager and the band walked up on the stage, Pat said, "Should I come up?" two times. I said, "those guys won't tell you anything." She said, "Well, I know they can't start the show without me." That was a part of the charm and down to earth attitude she displayed tonight.
Today was also the day I went to try and see and eat everything possible..
I ate mini donuts, a corn dog, Herb Kohl milk, a baked potato, two root beer barrel's, a pork chop sandwich, a cream puff and cheese fries.
I saw the Budweiser clydesdales, cows, sheep, pigs, horses, exhibits and lots of nice people.
Only problem was that it was very sunny and warm...But I did all that in about 4 hours...
After work we went out to have few drinks, and a great band named Sonic Circus played 80's music for the final hour of the fair.
