What is successful?
The Milwaukee Brewers have a chance to finish above .500 for the first time since 1992. Most people will agree that if they do meet this mark, they will have a successful season.
However, are the Brewers successful if they finish below .500. Mind you, they were 67-94 last year. So does that mean 80-84 is a winner? Or 81-83? Does the fact that they have sucked for so long lower the bar below .500? Should it?
This can be transferred into many areas….is it okay to expect less from poor minority students in school? Are we accepting mediocrity from them? Is that okay? We do it in our liberal public schools every day…
Just because someone is poor or old, does that mean that we can’t expect them to have an ID to vote?
Does the fact that we lower the bar hurt them even more?
This all does tie in with my blog about the helpless class that we have created…

Exactly jager...many people live out a self-fulfilling prophecy...it is so easy to find people making excuses for you, many take that easy way out.
As for the Brewers...
It is great that more people are coming to the park...it is because of the new talent and the new manager for sure...but I can easily see things staying the same...
when will we expect the new guys to win...meaning contend for the play-offs...for the Brewers it is always the next year or three years away...it is next year that we raise the bar back up?
You have to see my point that at some point the expectation for winning has to go back up...eventually weeks and fielder have to be able to not suck in the field...and right now it looks like weeks can not hit anything that is not straight...I know you will say they are young..and you are right...but when does that excuse go away?
Finally, people are still talking about the brewers partially because they are better, and partially because everyone knows the packers will suck.
best record for the pack...8-8
and for the record...I said the Brewers would finish 3 games under .500 before the season.
I've lived with 15+ years of complete incompetence with the Arizona Cardinals.
I'd kill for an 8-8 season this year (and they may actually get there.........HAHAHA!!)
You have a similar situation with the Brewers.......Ugh.
Sadly, I'm pretty sure your Packers are headed in this direction as well........How did they let 2 All Pro linemen go, when the #1 concern should be protecting Brett?
But at least you have the Bucks........Sorry for the cheapshot.
Mcc is right...this year might be considered a sucess even if they finish a few games under IF next year they take a wildcard or atleast are in it until the last few days...they also will need to be able to buy a guy here and there when the time is right...like they could back in the 80's.
The packers will be 7-9 or 8-8...they should have won 2 or 3 superbowls with Favre. They never had the superstar receivers and now they don't even have people to protect Favre...he might get hurt this year and it will be the GM's fault.
