NY Times Admits Fabricating News - Again
The mainstream media's newspaper of record admitted late Saturday that one of its reporters fabricated part of a news story on Hurricane Katrina relief.
Saying his paper "flunked" the test of basic journalistic fairness, New York Times public editor Byron Calame said Alessandra Stanley's Sept. 5 report claiming that the Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera "nudged" an Air Force relief worker out of the way so he could film himself rescuing a Katrina victim had been made up out of whole cloth.
"Since Ms. Stanley based her comments on what she saw on the screen Sept. 4, the videotape of that segment means everyone involved is looking at exactly the same evidence," Calame noted.
"My viewings of the videotape - at least a dozen times, including one time frame by frame - simply doesn't show me any 'nudge' of any Air Force rescuer by Mr. Rivera," the Times internal watchdog said, adding, "Ms. Stanley declined my invitation to watch the tape with me."
Times editor Bill Keller, however, is still standing by Ms. Stanley's bogus report. He told Calame that she was "writing as a critic, with the license that title brings - [and] was within bounds in her judgment."
"Ms. Stanley's point was that Mr. Rivera was show-boating - that he was being pushy, if not literally pushing - and I think an impartial viewer of the footage will see it that way," Keller insisted.
But Calame countered: "Ms. Stanley certainly would have been entitled to opine that Mr. Rivera's actions were showboating or pushy. But a 'nudge' is a fact, not an opinion. And even critics need to keep facts distinct from opinions."
Stanley's bogus report continues a pattern at the Old Gray Lady of making up the news.
Two weeks ago, columnist Paul Krugman was forced to admit that he falsely claimed media recounts in Florida showed Al Gore winning the 2000 presidential election. In August, a Times profile of Hillary Clinton changed a quote first reported by NewsMax where Clinton said she was "adamantly opposed to illegal immigrants."
In the toned down Times version, Clinton's opposition was to "illegal immigration" rather than the immigrants themselves.
This is why when liberals use the NYT as a source to defend their "arguments" I say they are using a liberal source. They always laugh like I am insane (maybe I am, but not about this). When they are not simply making up stories, they are doing things like using loaded words, using only one point of view, or selecting to report on stories that help the left.
It is easily documented time and time again how the media is biased...but since liberals can not remember the last 4 million examples, I'll just keep reminding them with the lastest infraction.

The media is so biased even they have to admit it

Just a hat tip from a brother in conservative arms. Looking good!
I've neem saying the same thing for months. And I have been crucified over it. Mary, over at Freedom Sden, found a copy of a brief filed in court a while back where 36 major news organizations admitted to lieing in court. you can find it here"
http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2005/07/failure-of-press.html
the facts are on our side...don't get upset about emotional people yelling at you
Krugman should have his facts straight and his editors should do a better job of making sure he does. The same with all their writers.
Having said that, have any Conservative newspapers, blogs, or other organizations admitted that even one scenario done by the consortium would have shown Gore to have won the election? Because under some scenarios he would have.
Geraldo Rivera is a show-boater. He is always the center of attention in any report he does. Why is a reporter helping to carry someone in a wheelchair down a flight of stairs while his camera person documents the action? There are no other rescue workers available? I saw him "reporting" from the mountains of Afghanistan searching caves for Osama. The camera was constantly on Geraldo who was waving a pistol.
The facts are that the NYT have once again shown their lust for bringing down anyone they don't like...they make up stories, they use loaded words, they pick and choose what to cover...
I think one group found one way that Gore would have won...as opposed to the hundreds of ways in which Bush DID win.
Why are you so sure it is a "liberal" media. The same type of bias can be found by liberals pointing out the rightwing spin and lies. Yes, in the corporate media. Don't you think it is up to Americans to sift through it. That is why we need an EDUCATED nation. If you can't see the bias towards the right I would just remind you about the run up to the war and all the things that turned out to be not true. Why didn't the media investigate and point this out? Why did they just read the White House press releases? Many more examples but I don't have time right now. Come visit me again Game.
The fact that the NYT employs Judith Miller causes them to lose respect from me right off.
Ron, there is a difference between believing what the whole world thought, and people making up stories..
I really don't feel like going through the tons of examples my blog has presented...show my how the media is slanted right...your example is poor at best...
very busy right now...that is why I have not been at your blog as much lately.
These days most so-called 'trustworthy' news sources are little more than hype similar to "The National Enquirer".
PS: Game
I'm surprised that when Bush had a cocktail in Colorado, that some major blue city's newspaper didn't have a headline along these lines:
"Bush can't handle pressures of Iraq War, And 2 Hurricanes, Falls Off The Wagon". Liberals, just go figure what lengths they will go to misconstrue reality. Desperados.
I don't remember where I heard it, but I did see something like that. Whatever crazy thing you come up with...the reality will be worse.
Here's a post from jja I got off the sunherald's web site for Hurricane Katrina victims. None of the below words are mine. They are all from this poster. Just thought some people might want to hear how the white victims feel about being left out, based only on their race....guess they are the wrong color to feel sorry for. Most white people only want to feel sorry for the 'other' races. Just FYI from me: There's plenty of poor white people in the hurricane states...you won't see many 'human interest' stories about those folks in the main stream media. Here's the quote:
just a note...don't mean to offend anyone..but have you noticed the following things? i have a friend in st. paul minnesota, and this is what HE has learned from the major news channels about mississippi.
1. The hurricane only hit black families properties.
2. New Orleans was devastated, and no other ciy was affected by Katrina.
3. Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.
4. New Orleans has NO white people.
5. The hurricane blew off a limb in an Alabama resident's yard.
6. When you are hungry after a hurricane, you steala big screen tv, rape women, and beat up innocent people.
7. The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to N.O. Now, the city is welfare, looters, and gang free, and coming to a city near you.
8. White folks don't make good news stories.
9. Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you. Instead, complain because you haven't been given a debit card yet.
10. Only black families got seperated in rescue efforts.
11. Ignore warnings to evacuate, and white folks will give you money for being stupid.
This IS not the case for all of the New Orleans evacuees. I am not so ignorant as to make a comment like that. What I am trying to point out, is that Mississippi, and Alabama have been ignored in the news. We are acting like a community should, and that doesn't make for good ratings. I am not racist, I don't dislike black people, just think it is absurd that MS and AL aren't news worthy. New Orleans received flood damage....MS and AL got it all. Wind, and water. I'm not insensitive, just mad.
P.S. Before anyone lectures me on being politically correct...don't.
They should get ARmstrong williams and Jeff Gannon on this IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
I posted the above sunherald quote only because I thought it was a prime example of how media bias affects many citizens, who aren't whiners, grumblers, and complainers. Who is truly victimized by the media's potrayal of hurricane victims? Lots of people who aren't whining and demanding.....and just happen to be the wrong color for the main stream media's liberal journalists.
the funny thing is the Left will say the opposite of what you said...that no one cares because many of the families were black...
Scorpion says--
Imagine that! Something in print that reflects what really is being done in the media. The Milwaukee URINAL could never print anything that might let them appear competent. Yet, the mo-rons and uninformed whiners(U.W.'s)will continue to try to justify the lack of any common sense.
Like I said...lets get Jeff Gannon of Talon news on this ASAP. Or maybe the Bush administration can pay the ARmstrong Williams of the world. Talking about MEDIA BIAS!! When the Bush administration PAYS FOR and CREATES news stories, it isnt news..it a commercial.
While visiting Espella's blog, I ran across several of "Shelly's" posts. (I seriously believe she has a crush on Espella, and is arguing with him because she thinks he is sexy. I have lots of psi experience in this realm, and yep, that's the way some women, esp. those of 'color', approach their 'love interests'.)
Another noteworthy observation about "Shelly's" behavior is that she has consistently responded with a completely callous disregard for the MS Katrina victims', whose posts I have placed here on "Game's" blog. These quotes posted by me are from actual Katrina victims perishing from the direct hurricane hit, NOT floods due to neglect and fraud and abuse of levee federal funds like the New Orleans' residents. It became blatantly obvious to me that "Shelly" has 'racial' issues, and won't listen to reasonable thoughts, even if God himself deliverd the rationale to her. Those Democrat 'racial' issue thoughts are the biggest battle the US will ever have to overcome. For too long, for no good reason whatsoever, Clinton excused any lazy, criminal behaviors, IF you were the 'RIGHT' color. He promoted the 'you'll get something for nothing, if you are the right color, and vote for Democrats policies'. And deep down, everyone knew why he did that. Because 'minority' votes are the last vestige of hope for the Democrat party.
I just thought it was noteworthy to point out to others exactly how uncaring "Shelly" is to victims who are not her 'color', or her political party. She's just a despicable sorry excuse for a human being, one that laughs at, and responds with sarcasm to the tragedies of those who aren't the same color, or political party she belongs to.
