Why didn't you deploy the busses?

Every democrat is now blaming Bush for hating blacks and not having a plan.

Well, the mayor of New Orleans is a BLACK democrat...

Why weren't these buses used to evacuate all the poor people of the city who could not get out???

Does this mean that the black mayor of New Orleans hates blacks as well?

Or maybe was this a catastrophe that we could not plan for, things happened out of our control, the whole cities infrastructure was destroyed.

Everyone is doing the best they can...stop with the race card and stop using this tragedy for political gain...I beg you.

The response might have been poor, this is not the time for this talk. Help the people, everyone is doing the best they can...why does this just seem like libs are just licking their chops thinking they have finally found the thing that might bring Bush down. Its disgusting

Wondering who was going to drive the busses? Going to ask the school bus drivers to leave their families and brave the hurricane?

jim, what is wrong with you? why do you have to place blame on everyone...why is the left always got to sit back and do nothing but complain...the mayer is a dem...blame him...

I put that pic on the blog to show that anyone can look back now and place blame on anyone...the left needs to shut up, stop saying the relief is going slow because the people there are black, and work on helping them now..

no one could have planned for what happened...read Average Joe's explanation...

Louisiana disaster plan, pg 13, para 5 , dated 01/00

'The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating'...

Game, congrats on blog of the week. I voted for you..Honest! I still thing you are almost always wrong. I predict that your apologist leaders like Rush Lamebrain and Sean Hadenough will soon be changing their tune as will you as a good little solider.

Blame? So it's NOT OK to criticize those who have the responsibility for planning for disaster, but it is somehow OK to blame those who supposedly "chose" not to leave when the evacuation order was given.

Average Joe's so-called "explanation" in his guest blog is a shapeless pile of horse manure. Or is his "explanation" elsewhere. Comparing the mayor of NO here to Rudy G after 9/11 is oranges and moose turds. (sorry to be into so much excrement). Rudy's event was localized to a few blocks. Very few people were displaced from their homes. All the roads, transportation systems, electricity, telephones, grocery stores, taxis, police stations and everything else outside a small area of Manhattan were working or restored to order within hours. Although actions of the NYPD and NYFD were heroic, there is still today questions about the planning and procedures in place that caused a lack of communication and coordination on 9/11. Rudy looked good and got a lot of credit, much of it deserved, but there is no way on earth to compare the situation that he faced with what the mayor of NO faced and faces today.

Regarding the buses...
Let's say you've got maybe 400 buses here. And let's say they can carry, oh, 50 people each. And let's say you could somehow drum up 400 bus drivers to drive them (if they haven't already evacuated or are taking care of their own families). And let's say they were all gassed up.

So that's 20,000 people maybe could have been evacuated. That still leaves 80,000 people. Of course, maybe they could have somehow made two trips, assuming there was time, they could get gas, and the weather wasn't too severe by then. So that's 40,000 people. Still leaves 60,000.

Problem NOT solved.
