Don't mean to say I told ya so

Poll: Bush Disappointing Conservatives
This is what I was talking about when I wrote..."Bush is finished." His base is pissed, and this poll says they are pissed about the same things I wrote about. I didn't say it because I want Bush to be "finished," but I just knew that the Supreme Court nomination was going to push a bunch of Bush supporters over the edge.
A few notable quotes from the article:
Sentiment about the nation's direction has sunk to new depths at a time people are anxious about Iraq, the economy, gas prices and the management of billions of dollars being spent for recovery from the nation's worst natural disaster.
Among those most likely to have lost confidence about the nation's direction over the past year are white evangelicals, down 30 percentage points since November, Republican women, down 28 points, Southerners, down 26 points, and suburban men, down 20 points.

Bush's supporters are uneasy about issues such as federal deficits, immigration and his latest nomination for the Supreme Court. Social conservatives are concerned about his choice of Miers, a relatively unknown lawyer who has most recently served as White House counsel.

"Bush is trying to get more support generally from the American public by seeming more moderate and showing he's a strong leader at the same time he has a rebellion within his own party," Thurber said. "The far right is starting to be very open about their claim that he's not a real conservative."
I said this stuff a few days ago...we need to address these issues now before liberals take a bunch of seats in 2006. It doesn't help to ignore weaknesses and problems, they need to be dealt with head on....at least see my point. I bring this up not to bash Bush, but to put some pressure on him to stay a conservative. I know he has done many things to be proud of, but there as been enough problems lately to worry too many conservatives.

I know man, I know. The Dems wanted a moderate, so Bush hands them one; then they go and bash him for being politically weak. It's total B.S. By the way, do you want me to link to your blog? If you do, just comment on one of my posts and we can set up some "linkage"...Conservative Pride!

The far right is concerned that Bush might not be real conservative? As I stated in my previous post, our hardcore, somewhat elitist base needs to get some perspective. Dr. James Dobson is for Miers, he's XXX hardcore and now Newt Gingrich has come out for her. Anybody gonna say Newt ain't got the GOP skins?

http://www.baltimoresun.com/services/site/premium/access-registered.intercept

Did W need to need make this pick at this time with his base jittery - probably not. But I believe he picked Miers because he trusts her to remain true to the cause and not become another Kennedy or O'Connor. So in that way Bush did as he promised to us. Remember conservatives were non-pulsed by the Roberts and the Thomas picks. In the end they were giggling with joy.

If Miers goes in and stinks up the place during confirmation. I will retract my support and call for her removal. But let's give her a chance. She's from my part of the universe and we couldn't be happier.

Once again, I hope your right...but you have to admit Bush is taking big time heat right now for it...and if he can not recover he will not be able to push through anything else...and the Right will lose seats in 2006.

Espella's probably right, Game. It is a well known fact that conservatives, when making decisions, have significantly longer range assessments on things than liberals do. Bush has demonstrated the ability to make sound judgments, even when the judgments and the reasons for them didn't make a lot of sense at the time to many of us. Even in some of the excessive spending decisions of recent, I still find it very difficult to believe that Bush is so lacking in character that he would turn his back on us. That's just not his M.O. Perhaps we masses cannot see the 'whole picture' yet. Remember he's a spunky sort of fellow. His character has been full of 'decency with balls'. Bush's character attributes is why so many voted for him. He proved himself decent. People usually don't turn away from their underlying character all that easily. I still have faith. Just hiding and watching.
Too many liberals want instant gratification for their decisions. That intense need for immediate approval and positive outcomes, has been their downfall in many situations. The uneducated masses that make up the majority of the Democrat Party's backing require that party's representatives to constantly appease these immediate gratification demands. (Like infants, who need pacifiers in between feedings.) Let's not be cut of the same 'insecurity cloth', that the Democrat followers are. May we show 'grace and faith under fire, and if it turns out we have been betrayed, then blast the hell out of those in our party responsible for the betrayal. There's no short cut to ultimate success.
It's necessary that we all watch closely, monitoring the potential of Meirs.....so we can come down hard and heavy if she does turn out to be lacking as far as conservative thinking goes. But for now, I think we should 'hide and WATCH' closely, letting the powers that be know how displeased we will be if she turns out to be another 'Hillary type'. Let's give our trust and support, but let them know that if we are let down, that hell will have no fury as that of scorned Republicans.

Roseindigo, if you haven't yet visited espella humanzee's blog, please do so right now. I think you may find his insights useful. The first few posts of his are especially good, in regards to this issue. However, ALL is good, and I am am even trying to catch on his archives. Keep an open mind, and keep the faith. I don't agree with everything hard core Republicans do, but I agree with most Republican views. I don't agree with any Democrat views. No one in their right mind would.

I've went over this time after time......Miers will be confirmed, and will be more Conservative than Roberts.
----------
Also, Clarence Thomas was considered a "weak" pick by most Conservatives, too.....And now he's a favorite.
----------
I think it's funny to listen to the Conservative calls for the Senate Republicans to not vote for her, or even to filibuster her nomination........This is nuts.

Most of these Republican senators were around when RBG was confirmed, and every (R) voted for her......The thought of voting FOR RBG, but against Miers is incredible.
---------------
Miers wasn't my first, or 10th, choice.........You all know I wanted JR Brown.

But I don't get to make the pick.....Bush hasn't failed Conservatives on any of his judicial nominees (or any of his nominees in any position), so why would he pick a Souter here? --> HE DIDN'T!!
--------------
Like I said at the top, she'll end up being much closer to Thomas than Souter, and even more Conservative than Roberts.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! All Doubting Thomas types, just hide and watch.

The Game said...

steph...your leaving me for espella :(

Anyway, I have to admit I am too young to really remember RBG or Thomas...I was in high school, so I can't comment on that...

I will listen to what Miers has to say, if she sounds good, I'll be okay with it...

It's just when I read the posts and blogs of people defending this nomination by BS meeter hits high levels.

Game, if the blogs getting your BS meter soaring so high, are the likes of such goofballs as "Jim", and "Shelly", you're taking them way too seriously. "Jim" is full of philosophical 'mumbo jumbo', indicating he doesn't have any REALISTIC working solutions to our country's problems. If you examine his posts for long range planning solutions, you will find that "Jim's" 'proposals' on solutions are extremely short sighted, offering what seems to be an enticing 'quick fix', but when considering the long range effects of these 'solutions', they would prove horrifically detrimental. They sort of look good ON PAPER OR SCREEN ONLY. But that's a Democrat for you. Gain popularity by quick fixes, that lead to long term devastation. I hope most citizens do not forget that is what the Clinton administration did, which is why 9/11 occurred.

As far as "Shelly" goes, the majority of her posts are simply hate filled one liner spews against Republicans. No rational, responsible thought processes going on in her realm. I'm thinking.... (and I'm serious!)... she's about 300 pounds, single mom of children from multiple partners (not fathers), who is scared to death that someday she may actually have to get up off her fat behind, and work for a living. Remember, most Democrats are inherhently lazy. They will not give up their leisure existence without a verbal battle. Most are uneducated idiots, thinking they can fool us with their philosophical BS, or scare us with their screaming, ranting and raving 'Republicans are evil BS'.
When I read the crap lefties post I just blow it off. I don't make a habit out of reading lefty blogs. It's just a waste of my time. Remember the psi principle: Hate of someone or something indicates fear. Indifference is the hardest attitude to overcome, because indifference means the person doesn't even think enough of someone or something to be afraid of it.

Stephanie Rose is so full of excrement she can't see up from down.

SR obviously does not read anything on this blog. I have only made posts to refute other posts which I believe to be incorrect. There has been no opportunity here to propose "solutions", so I have never made any.

SR only posts here to "hear" herself talk. It's really mental masturbation. She criticizes but offers no solutions herself, nor does she refute any point I've made on this site.

SR is also very good at projection, that is "transferring" her own faults to others. She says that Shelly's posts are "hate filled one line spews" which anyone who reads her posts knows that's exactly what SR does. SR then goes on to project her own description as a 300-pound single mom, etc., etc. SR is no doubt looking in the mirror as she describes Shelly.

SR characterizes half of this country with some of the most hate-filled vitriol I have ever seen or heard. SR is no better than the Islamo-facists who spew their hate against half the world.

If SR represents the "voice" of the right, the intellect of the conservative rank and file, then the right is doomed sooner or later. There are some really bright and thoughtful thinkers and writers on the right. SR is not one of them.

OMG! HATE MAIL FOR ME FROM "JIM"!
My poly sci profs would vehemently disagree with your opinion of my writings, Jim.

Oh well, moving right along now...
A friend of mine sent me this in an email. Enjoy! Jim won't like it, but it's not like I care. I'll leave that caring attitude up to people like Game, who haven't already raised their own children, so still have plenty of patience with juvenile thinking patterns. I'm just glad my kids, now as adults, are solid Republicans.

And Game, any time you find my posts so ridiculously unworthy of the priviledge of your site, just let me know. I'm a grown up girl. (But nowhere near 300 lbs! ROFLMAO)

SUNDAY SPECTATOR

(DavidWarrenOnline - Canadian Journalist)

September 11, 2005

If something happened up here on the scale of Katrina, we wouldn't even have the resources to arrive late.

We would be waiting for the Americans to come save us, the same way the government in Louisiana just waved and pointed at Washington, D.C.

The theory being, that when you're in real trouble, that's where the adults live.

And that isn't an exaggeration.

Almost everything that has worked in the recovery operation along the U.S. Gulf Coast has been military and National Guard.

Within a few days, under several commands, finally consolidated under the remarkable Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, it was once again the U.S. military, efficiently cobbling together a recovery operation on a scale beyond the capacity of any other earthly institution.

We hardly have a military up here.

We have elected one feckless government after another, who have cut corners until there is nothing substantial left.

We don't have the ability even to transport and equip our few soldiers. Should disaster strike at home, on a big scale, we become a Third World country. At which point, our national smugness is of no avail.

From Democrats and the American Left -- the U.S. equivalent to the people who run Canada -- we are still hearing that the disaster in New Orleans showed a heartless, white Republican America had abandoned its underclass.

This is garbage. The great majority of those not evacuated lived in assisted housing, receive food stamps and prescription medicine and government support through many other programmes.

Many have, all their lives, expected someone to lift them to safety, sans input from themselves.

And the demagogic mayor they elected left, quite literally, hundreds of transit and school buses parked in rows to be lost in the flood, that could have driven them out of town.

Yes, that was insensitive.

But it is also the truth; and sooner or later we must acknowledge that welfare dependency creates exactly the sort of haplessness and social degeneration we saw on display, as the floodwaters rose.

Many suffered terribly, and many died, and one's heart goes out.

But already the survivors are being put up in new accommodations, and their various entitlements have been directed to new locations.

The scale of private charity has also been unprecedented.

There are yet no statistics, but I'll wager the most generous state in the union will prove to have been arch-Republican Texas, and that nationally, contributions in cash and kind are coming disproportionately from people who vote Republican.

For the world divides into "the mouths" and "the wallets".

The Bush-bashing, both down there and up here, has so far lost touch with reality, as to raise questions about the bashers' state of mind. Consult any authoritative source on how government works in the United States, and you will learn that the U.S. federal government's legal, constitutional, and institutional responsibility for first response to Katrina, as to any natural disaster, was zero.

Notwithstanding, President Bush took the prescient step of declaring a disaster, in order to begin deploying FEMA and other federal assets, two full days in advance of the stormfall.

In the little time since, he has managed to coordinate an immense recovery operation -- the largest in human history -- without invoking martial powers.

He has been sufficiently Presidential to respond, not even once, to the extraordinarily mendacious and childish blame-throwing.

One thinks of Kipling's "If --" poem, which I learned to recite as a lad, and mention now in the full knowledge that it drives postmodern leftoids and liberals to apoplexy -- as does anything that is good, beautiful, or true:

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise...

Unlike his critics, Bush is a man, in the full sense presented by these verses. A fallible man, like all the rest, but a man.

Jim,
I am upset at you saying that this blog offers no solutions...

The problem with this country is that the Left has slowly made it more socialistic.

We have more and more people who will forever be slaves to the government and whatever scraps the libs decide to throw at them.

We don't expect them to learn and do homework in school. We don't expect them to get jobs...we just bankrupt the country to make a permanent sub-class.

The lefts "solutions" of welfare, low expectations, projects, food stamps, the race card and the blame game have proven to not work.

Liberal thought always sounds better on paper, but has proven since the 60's to do nothing but perpetuate a worthless existence.

I have proposed many times to encourage people to work. Give them a hand, but community leaders have to get out there and convince the inner cities that it is time to take control of your own lives. Cosby is out there trying to make a difference, while Sharpton and Jackson are looking for a photo-op and more hand-outs.

I know, my solution will not work if people decide they do not want to work. I set the bar high everyday for every kid I come in contact with...I guess I want to have a bit more faith in the human spirit.

Steph...
You are wonderful and I love reading your posts...I will have to say I thought the ONE line about "most liberals being lazy" was a bit too simplistic.

I totally agree most liberal programs and ideas are to just give people stuff and hope everything works out...I agree it doesn't help in the long run or fix the actual problem/situation.

I have ADD and I know I could not read more if this was someone else's site, so I will end now even though I have not totally answered the question...more later

Game, I just read some very disturbing pompous posts from Espella's site. I am quite disturbed at his arrogance. "Pride cometh before a fall". I know you understand more of what I try to say in my posts, probably because your reading comprehension ability is so good. So please give me feedback on this. And you bet your sweet ass I'm mad when I see superficial arrogance like this. Espella says he's TIRED of the people who think the same thoughts you have been thinking??? HE'S TIRED! Well, my friend, he won't have to be tired for long because if Republicans keep spouting off to the other Republicans (who make up the voting population) how TIRED they are of US, they won't have jobs long. Democrats will look better all the time. Below is my response to a post from Espella responding to yours:

Espella, Game has not "jumped ship" by any means. And Game does speak the very same thoughts as the majority of AVERAGE JOE VOTING REPUBLICANS are speaking. I'm in touch with the 'little people' on a day to day basis. And Bush has suffered popularity setbacks, because of his recent spending decisions and now the Miers nomination. You can cite all of the Republicans in office who support the Miers nomination you want. What matters in the final analysis is whether or not the 'little people', in other words the VOTERS, will continue to support Bush. And Game is right, Bush's recent decisions, culminating in the Miers nomination has created a whole lot of 'little people' Republican dissent. That sort of dissent led to Clinton and his Democrat criminals holding office for 8 years. Game just doesn't want to see that happen again. But it will, if this trend continues. So cite all the politicians you want. The 'little people' really don't give a rat's ass how many politicians you cite. They will 'call them as they see them'come voting time. Right now they don't see Republicans in a very positive light. And don't ever forget, if the 'little voting people' out there have no faith, the politicians you cite will soon be out of jobs anyway. Game is much more in tune with this than you are. So, maybe you need to get down off that high horse Espella, and realize not all voters are "rich white guys" like you. To ensure party stability, stay in touch with us 'little voting Republican people'.
Self assured wealthy arrogance will bring down the Republicans as fast as it did the Democrats. Only when it brings you guys down this time, you won't have any excuses. Average Joe Republican will be right there to tell you "rich white guys" we tried to tell y'all what we the people wanted, but you were so stuck on yourselves, you wouldn't listen to us. You're too damn smug.
If Espella keeps his arrogant attitude up, he's headed for a fall. He'll suffer the same fate as all the other "rich white guys" and then be threatening to move to Europe. This I am sure of. He needs to get a grip on what he considers the peons, the middle class folks who voted Republicans in want. They will vote Republicans out just as fast, if these 'little folks' don't get what they want from their elected officials. They may not be as accomplished as Espella, but they're not as stupid as he believes they are.

Game,

I did not suggest that your blog offered no solutions. I said that there was no opportunity here for me to offer solutions. I merely express counterpoint to your assertions that the media is mostly liberal and that liberals and Democrats are wacko and working against the betterment of America. I have not offered solutions, because I have not been asked for solutions.

So please read my posts again, because I don't think you should be insulted by them.

Anonymous said...

Game repeatedly invites people to share their solutions on his blog. So WTH is all this "no opportunity" to share solutions BS about?! If you see people criticizing current strategies, without offering solutions, I think Game wants YOU and ANYONE ELSE to SHARE YOUR SOLUTIONS. I haven't seen him post anything about DON'T share your solutions.

The Game said...

Jim, I think I have to agree with steph...

go right ahead and give solutions when I bring up a problem...and yes, it is possible that your ideas will be attacked here, because most people who read this are conservatives...but if you truely believe you are right, you should keep making your case and point...maybe it will work and maybe it will not...but it is my opinion that if you believe something...stand up for it..

but just remember that I believe different things than you much of the time...so I will be defending my thoughts as well...there is nothing wrong with that...in fact...it is the American way

Jim said...

SR,

Please link to any of these "repeated" invitations to share a solution and I'll read them. Game has said the purpose of this blog is to expose the liberal bias of the main stream media. He cites examples, I refute them. I don't spew hate, although when I read brilliant words like...

Most are uneducated idiots, thinking they can fool us with their philosophical BS, or scare us with their screaming, ranting and raving 'Republicans are evil BS'.

...I feel compelled to give it back, you know, for fair a balanced sake. Again SR projecs when she writes that the left claims "Republicans are evil." Mostly what I read on the Republic web sites is how evil Democrats are. I never read any Democratic or liberal sites that say "Republicans are evil." Mislead, perhaps, but not evil. I've heard liberal sites say that some Republic leaders are evil, but not the Republic rank and file.

The Game said...

oh, and espella is just defending his party...I think it is wrong to simply support your side just because it is your side...but he is doing it...it might come back to haunt all of us..

but as I have been saying all along...I hope epella ends up being right

The Game said...

jim, go down a few posts and let me see all the bias on the media from the conseravtive side...it should be a good laugh

Anonymous said...

I hope and pray every day that Espella is right. Don't forget, Game, that I am the same party as he is. But I know there are Republicans out there, neo cons, if you will, who don't have the patience or faith we 'long timers' do. That is what worries me. With the spending to bail LA out, it may be just enough to drive some back over the edge. I hope the next three years will turn that around for our party's good.
OH! Jim, yeah, just dig through Game's archives and you'll find the invitations. Just like a Democrat....too lazy to do their own research. Expect to be spoon fed ALL THE TIME! Children! How do you maintain the patience, Game?!

Jim said...

SR,

I have been reading and responding to this blog since August 24th. There has never been a posting by the Game asking for a "solution." Why? Because the right already apparently has all the solutions so you wouldn't consider mine if I offered it.

Once again you project. You are the lazy one. Since you assert that there ARE invitations to offer a solution, it is incumbent upon you to prove the assertion.

Most of my posts here refute the Game's assertions of liberal media. Those posts almost always include quotes or citations from reputable sources which I have found through research. Because you are lazy, your posts include no citations or research, only the claim that I am a wacko nut job.

A few posts ago I asked Game what the purpose of this blog is. His response was:

The purpose of my blog is to inform people about the things the liberal media will not. I try and make the information presented to the world on a more level playing field. The media is getting really sick right now with the Rove and Delay stuff...they are foaming at the mouth...

The subtitle of this blog is "Created to give example after example of media bias, left wing lies, and the PC world."

There is nothing in either of these statements that has anything to do with solving the country's problems. Once again, Game asserts media bias. I refute his assertions. It's really that simple.

If I were going to discuss solutions to the country's problems, I would go to a blog where the owner says, "Here is a problem as I see it. Here is my solution. What do you think about it? If you don't like it, do you have a better solution?" That is not this blog. It's not in the title of this blog, it's not in Game's description of this blog, and it is certainly not in any post SR has made on this site.

If you, SR, or Game wants to change the nature of this blog or start a new one which offers and debates solutions to problems, I may want to read it and participate. Let me know when you start it.

In the meantime, on this blog, the Game asserts media bias. I refute his claims.

Are we clear?
