Its time to get serious

Democrats Delirious at President Bush's Low Approval Rating
This article was written by Susan Jones, CNSNews.com Senior Editor
Both the right and the left have slammed President Bush in recent days, and a new poll reflects the angst on both sides of the political aisle.

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, based on the responses of 807 adults, shows that President Bush's approval rating has dropped to a new low of 39 percent. Only 28 percent believe the country is heading in the right direction.

With the 2006 congressional elections looming, 48 percent of poll respondents said they want a Democratic-controlled Congress, compared with 39 percent who wanted Republicans to retain control

The conservative message is not getting out...we have to win with ideas....
Bush is getting hammered on many, many levels and he seems to have no way to get out...
People, put your thinking caps on...or 2006 could be a very bad year.

We can start by stopping all the snarking by our conservative brethren. Laura Ingraham was making fun of Sen. Lindsey Graham's accent as he pleaded others to let Miers have her turn to speak. What the hell? She's non-stop on Miers. You can almost drink the sarcasm dripping off the National Review page. That doesn't sound like reasoned debate to me. It all sounds like elitism to me and it pains me to say that.

When did we lose the ability to see the big picture?

I am a bit more worried...I can't find anyone who is with Bush on this...not anyone I listen too...Rush...NOPE....Hannity...NOPE...Belling....NOPE...Savage...NOPE..

I listened to Hannity for 20 minutes today and he took call after call of conservatives saying what I said earlier...this was the last straw..

they were already mad about liberal style spending...
they were mad about not controlling the borders...
it was not one guy...it was like ten in a row...
espella...it is not looking good right now...Bush needs to defend himself and explain what is going on..

the polls are looking real bad...I know polls are not the only thing to look at...but the poll I list hear makes things look bad

So I would like to ask you each: Are you a conservative or a member of the Bush, what shall I call it...cult?

Sounds like the Game is being pulled kicking and screaming out of the cult by the heretofore repressed memory of his conservative roots.

EH equates true conservatism with "elitism." It used to be good to be elite. Now it's a dirty word. EH would rather embrace mediocracy at the alter of George W. Bush than to insist that Bush fulfill the conservative goals of the last 40 years by appointing a great conservative thinker to change the court for generations.

You voted for him.

The only thing that bothers me is that I find myself agreeing with Rush, Hannity, Coulter (oh, God), and Ingraham. Of course by that I mean I agree with their reasoning on this issue even though I oppose their goal (and pretty much anything else they've ever said.)

Does anyone really think Bush will pull the Miers nomination? Will she pull the plug herself??

I've said all along JRB was my first choice, but I have no doubt Miers will be a fine Conservative justice.....She'll be like Thomas (who isn't the smartest on the bench, but is the most Conservative), and much more Conservative than Roberts.

I have no idea what Bush was thinking by nominating Miers.......He should have been on a high after the Roberts confirmation, and chose to make life difficult on himself.

But then again, picking JRB or Luttig would have started a different kind of firestorm......This one he can win handily. I'm not certain he could have if he had to break a filibuster.
----------------
That said, Bush's poll #'s sucked before this nomination........He's been below 50% since at least July.

And has only been over 55% in 1 poll since October 2004!!!!

The best keeper of polls is Real Clear Politics......Check out this "Approval Rating" list.

And take another look at the polls on that list......I don't see many with a Conservative bent. I'm sure the polls are given to an equal amount of Liberals and Conervatives though. --> Riiiiiight.
----------------
I hope you all understand what these polls are saying.......He may be "down" but he's always been down in these polls.
----------------
And guess what else? Many Conservatives, myself included, have been sniping at him for his entire presidency....The talkshows have been up and down with him depending on if he meets their expectations.

Yet he's managed to carry and pick up seats in every 2 year election since 2000, and won his own in 2004.
----------------
Get a little perspective people! This will all blow over, and Miers will be confirmed..........And things will go on as normal.

Normal as in 45-53% of the people in polls approving......Just as it is now, and has been for years.

It would be this way no matter who was president (R or D), because the country is completely polarized.

Funny how Jimmie doyle has never, and I mean never been above 46% in Wisconsin and all the lefties here just think he is untouchable.

Anyone see the issue in that?

Just for fun, go look at the poll results for Congress.......(R)'s and (D)'s

-------------------
These guys never get over 50% either, and have been in the 30's as well.

Also, you should note the Dems are constantly ahead in these polls (even during 2004 election), yet continue to lose seats in both houses.
-------------------
Again, don't lose too much sleep over this issue.

Is Bush going to lose seats in Congress in 2006? Maybe, maybe not.

The fact he hasn't in the past 2 election cycles is amazing......Way off the norm for a sitting president.

Either way, the game must go on and we must all keep our heads.

You all need to come to Texas. We're very optimistic here. Big picture guys, big picture.

I promise you it is better to have this fight NOW than next year. None of this will matter in a month or so.

It is a good point to mention that conservatives always seem to do better in elections thanthe polls suggest. But lets be honest...39% is pretty bad. Also, the question about what kind of congress do you want concerns me.

Pero mentioned that his first pick was JRB...but Miers can get in easy...

That is what most people are pissed about...picking someone like JRB would have energized the base and rallied them around Bush...it would have been great for conservatives...

Poison Pero said...

You are right about the base, Game, and you know I wanted a fight.

I'm afraid this fight would have been much more costly than the one we are having.

The media blitz would have been incredible, and who knows what the "gang of 7" would have done......I call it the "7" because the 7 Dems in the "14" are a given.
--------------------
The fight going on right now involves the few who are involved.

The massive majority of this country has no clue what's going on, but if they saw the media blitz from hell against a Hard Righty they'd definitely know......and they'd be getting a scewed vision.

The Game said...

I don't know...you may be right..there would be a media blitz...but don't you think:
1. it would energize the base
2. if bush picked a well qualifited candiate that when the dems and media started trashing her...the left and media would have looked like fools once again?

I'm with Jim. This bunch has nothing to do with conservative. It has everything to do with corporate globalism. It should be coming apparent even to the doubters......ooops their goes another job. Lets make sure we are dependant on other nations for all our goods and energy etc...Let cheap labor over the border and drive down the wage base in America and on and on. NOT!-Enough!!!!!
