The Left Celebrates 2000

The Left thinks they have another piece of ammunition to use in the 2006/2008 elections...it is sad that they are glad there are now 2000.....

Why does that number matter? Anyone who took history in high school would understand that 2,000 is very small in comparison to other military battles....

Lets look at a few:
Battle of Gettysburg killed 3,155 US soldiers in 2 days
53,700 Allied soldiers killed in the invasion of normandy
405,300 in WWII
116,500 in WWI
58,000 in Vietnam
41,345 died in car accidents every year

If certain people wanted to look at history they would have to stop saying the war is going poorly and that the causality count is out of control. They have a constitution in a few years....it took us 12.

Of course it would be great if no one died, but there is that risk when someone joins the military.

Hey great post but I think your d-day numbers are off a bit there were only 6 US division that went ashore on June 6th that includes the two airborne divisions. So at best there were only 80-90 thousand us troops that went ashore

I did a post like this and the UK day muesum puts US dead and Missing around 3500

The thought of the post is dead on though

Well, I am uncomfortable with the way the people against the war are marking the occasion. I wish they would have a candlelight vigil or something more respectful. However

"The nearly 2,000 Americans killed in combat (1,998 on October 24, 2005) in Iraq since 2003 are more than were lost in Vietnam combat in the first four years of U.S. combat (1961-1965, when just over 1800 died). This total is more than were lost in the last two years of combat (1971-1972, when just over 1600 died)," recounts Maurice Isserman, co-author of "America Divided: The Civil War of the 1960s."

You can look it up right here:

That would be an interesting fact if it is true...

Ron,
there were six years of the vietnam conflict that more than 2,000 people were killed just in the USA catagory...I don't know what the other catagories are and I don't really know the exact years that were were really engaged in military battle...

it goes all the way up to 1995...

not even related topics, so there is no need to give a response to you Jim....I know that is a trick of the Left...change topics...not working here

Jim said...

I did not change topics at all. I merely demonstrated how inane your assertion is. All members of a group should not be judged by the few. Simple as that.

Well, if you don't agree with moveon.org's tasteless act then you should condem it..

One problem is that the right does not support the KKK, you guys snuggle up to groups like moveon.org

Game..as you like to say, you make my point. what happens in the years to come..do you think anybody in iraq or the bad guys are going to accept a government with any whiff of america in it? Everything you worry will happen is already happening. It might be able to be saved but not without a big correction somewhere. The PNACers have two countries off course at the same time. Competent professionals that they are..

I thought the celebrate thing was waaaay tacky myself.

I happen to like Moveon.org myself..they are certainly no more radical and on the fringe than the townhallers or freepers.

Well said, ron!
