Priorities

The Milwaukee Public School Board spend different amounts of time on a few issues:

1. 3 minutes to decide to raise properly taxes from 1% this year to 3% next year.
2. 20 minutes or so deciding how to handle giving out student information to army recruiters.
3. 60 minutes discussing whether to say the pledge

That is how out of wack some peoples priorities are.... no need to talk about raising taxes...

We have to complain and argue about saying our countries pledge because some people are embarrassed they do not want to say it.

No one HAS to say it, they can sit down or be quiet...but it is state law, and everyone's right TO say the pledge...

You see, people have the right to honor our country...just like others have the right to oppose it.

Also, I just think its sad that people are so against God that they don't want his name said in public...no one is making anyone say anything.

And don't even bring up separation of church and state...this is not government mandated religion.

I can relate game. I don't consider myself a christian partly cuz frankly its just to darned embarassing to be associated with the vocal ones right now. However I think you are right on the messed up priorities. I also refuse to pledge allegiance to anything but God and my family.
You are right, no one has to say it if they don't want to...as it should be. I am confused by the atheists most of all. They seem to think God is just a goofy ritual of somekind or something. Why does it matter to them then? Were's the threat in a goofy little ritual? Can't you let people do the goofy little ritual in peace. They are way over the line on this.

"how dare you force your religion and beliefs on everyone"

Heh, it goes both ways, too. If its OK to have it in every meeting with people aloowed to NOT say it, then its also OK to not have it but people can say it to themselves. Anyway, Pat McCurdy is coming to the Gasthaus on Dec 8th. You in?
