The Left showing their "tolerance"

The Left once again showed that they are definitely not the party of "tolerance" and "understanding" Wednesday night, when Ann Coulter tried to have a speech at the university of Conn.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter gave up trying to finish a speech at the University of Connecticut on Wednesday night when boos and jeers from the audience became overwhelming. Coulter cut off the talk after 15 minutes and instead held a half-hour question-and-answer session.

Of course, it is hate speech when liberals don't like it. But when the Left says things to upset anyone...those people who are upset are called intolerant and not intelligent enough to understand the issues.

It is not hard to show how hypocritical Left thinkers are...

Ok, I realize you boys love Little Oral Annie. She tells you all the things you really want to hear, and strokes you and makes yu feel better going to bed at night. Frankly, the woman is a complete psycho. I have heard one interview with her where she wasnt a total nutjob(yeah, I enjoy listening to them), and that interview was all chopped up so you couldnt hear the crazy stuff. That being said, the woman gets everything she deserves. The test of a true liberal would be to try getting all touchy-feely with her cuz you are right in saying its hypocrisy to not allow her to speak. Of course, you like to point out individuals doing something, and relate it to LIBERALS. You cant correlate two unrelated groups without a common independant variable. Its scientifically impossible. With your example, its the dependant variable thats the same.

I have to disagree.

I saw a debate on C-SPAN between Howard Dean and Richard Perle where a student stood up and whipped a *shoe* at Perle. Did the mild-mannered Perle deserve that just for being conservative?

What we're actually seeing is young lefties being taught nothing is better than anything else, since there is only brute power powering itself. As a result, they act like animals without respect for rational discourse. If one does not like what people like Ann Coulter have to say, one is free not to listen to them.

It is called behaving like a adult.

Rhyno-
Is it just a coincidence that 98% of attempts to stop a speech or debate or visit from someone happens when a conservative is involved?

Is it just chance that the people trying to stop free speech are always people from the Left...you argument is full of wholes, your throwing out intellectual words and thoughts to hide the fact that you are completely wrong here

Dude, I dont think you or half the people hear ever read, or comprehend what you do read. I said she has every right to say what she wants. She was paid $16,000 to go to UConn and talk, though. Its not like she was there trying to express herself gratis. She ended the speaking part and went right to Q&A. She stuck a couple digs in, collected her money and went home. Since school money went to pay her, the school should have kicked out the people not allowing her to speak.

Which brings me to......
Dont be a hypocrite. If some podunk shithouse sheriff can be alrite in your eyes for 'upholding decency', then the university shouldnt have to allow her to finish her speech. You cant have it both ways, or else it is YOU who are the one with the bias.

jhb...read. Identify and comprehend what is written. You appear educated. I dont care for Dean or Perle, so leave them out of the discussion they have absolutely no pertinence to. Ann Coulter has nothing to complain about because its what she does. She doesnt have the courtesy to let other people speak, so she deserves any crap she gets from others.

It that easy, and quit putting words into my mouth.

I read what you wrote. In short, you state that Coulter brings it on herself. I have never heard of Coulter disrupting a speech of a leftist speaker, though she is bomb thrower in print and on television.

You're not even examining the bigger picture of why college leftists misbehave when people speak who disagree with them. Leftists should give conservatives the same respect conservatives give others (such as Howard Zinn and Cindy Sheehan) that frequently spew extreme and inflammatory rhetoric on campus.

I don't see why this is controversial.

The Game said...

Rhyno has decided to not answer our questions...why is it only lefties that do this?

And if you think there is equal bad behavior on both sides, may I suggest a certain type of surgery.

OK, I see the guidelines. Annie would never do that because she would get shouted down. Where she does do it is on her hack interviews that she does. Between that and her pathetic name-calling, she sets herself up. She shows nobody respect, and get the same in return.

Oh, and how many times do I have to say I am not a leftist? I stride a nice line right down the middle with only a small lean to the left on some issues. I believe in civil rights, church/state separation and equal opportunity. Anyone who isnt, step forward. Go ahead and ask my position before assuming that my disagreement with people automatically means I fall way to the other side.

If Coulter believes she can call all Democrats, liberals, and some former presidents treasonous and not get the reaction she does, she's not only a clown, she's an idiot.

That said, those who disrupt an event in a private venue, should be removed.

The other problem is that, like their dear leader, Republics are loathe to speak before anything but a hand-picked audience of supporters with scripted questions or people required by their commanders to attend.

The Game said...

see Jim, you just made a statement that is pure opinion...

It is clear that close to 100% of protesters trying to restrict free speech are lefties trying to stop conservative speech...they are intolerant..

I would like to know why that is? And Rhyno, if I take out the word liberal and just say only conservatives are attacked and stripped of their first ammendment rights, how will you argue that point?

Jim said...

Of course it's opinion. I didn't try to present any unsupportable facts, like "it is clear that close to 100%..."

I thought I was talking about LO Annie...I just added not to call me a liberal.

Mark said...

Rhyno, you sure look Liberal to me.

Game, I don't understand why Liberals object to being called Liberals, do you? I am a Conservative and I wear that label proudly.

It would appear that the word Liberal has a negative connotation. And rightly so.

Jim said...

There is nothing wrong with the word liberal or being a liberal. However, the rhyno said:

"I believe in civil rights, church/state separation and equal opportunity."

You can call this liberal, if you want. But this is also mainstream.

Ann is one our brightest conservative minds. As such, she articulates truths that the liberals have a impossible time swallowing. They just don't like a conservative that can intellectually "drink them under the table". Ann would eat Franken alive.

That's why you have morons like Wino hurling insults at her but not having the intellectual skillset to stand to to toe. The left jabbers about diverse opinion but we know it's their hot air they want us to hear.

For the left, the end is nigh...

I'm not certain if making rude and snotty comments to anyone from socialists to conservative Democrats constitutes an "intellectual skill set." I'm not saying Coulter is unintelligent. I am saying that much of what I've seen from her in print and on television resembles bomb throwing more than it resembles the sophistication one might expect from a George Will or a Michael Barone. The bad guy WWF persona makes her money and she knows it, but I hesitate to call the Jerry Springer stuff "articulate" because, honestly, it is not.

Sorry dude, in most cases you would be at least partly right here. Unfortantely you are talking about anne coulter. She's sick, hateful, hypocritical and just plain disgusting. She deserves no respect as a serious thinker at all.

Ron said...

your most americans want, is purely opinion. I can show you most polls today that would say you are WRONG!
You and chimpanzee are way out of the mainstream today and have the illusion that you are in the middle and your enemies are in their "last throes". Quite sheltered lives you must live.

Hey Ron...I really admire Ann Coulter. She can hold her own with the big guys. I think that's why lots of wimpy Democrat guys don't like her. It takes a strong, rugged, man to be able to sit with Ann and still keep his macho image.
Consider liberal men...they are afraid of global warming, they are afraid of war, they are afraid of guns, they are afraid of being prejudiced if they don't give 'special' people a free ride, they are just plain afraid of almost anything.....
These fearful attitudes toward life in general really don't attract the babes anymore. That went out with the 60's. When it comes right down to it, a woman wants a man who ISN'T afraid of his own shadow, and still has a sense of decency and fairness. They want someone who can take charge of the situation and trust in that it will work out for good. There's not many Dem men that fit the image.
I just think Dem men hate Ann because she is beautiful and intelligent, and they will never ever have a chance:)

Let me guess SR, you are from or raised by someone who is from the south...that is where that tough...wimp thing works into your psyche.
I don't find her "tough" when she says they should have flown the planes into the NY Times building instead. I consider that hateful and stupid and frankly anti-american. That is just one example... I'm not afraid of global warming.. I'm concerned about it. I often make jokes to bring it on cuz I hate the cold weather. I'm not afraid of guns..afterall it is an inantamite object. I worry about when a tough guy idiot gets one in his hands. Yes, I do fear war and the fact that you seem to see the most horrible thing man can do to man as inconciquential(i'm a bad spalller)bodes sadly for you not I. Shes not tough and I could rip her to shreds in a debate. She uses a lot of what is known in propaganda parlance as "glittering generalities" and "ad Homenum attack". I've delt with her kind before. I certainly dont fear her and would be ashamed to have her as a mate or even a friend. She is attractive but intelligent is waaay over estimating her in my opinion. What's her credentials? Lawyer? I don't consider myself a wimp. I consider myself a good American and a loving child of God and his creation but you can choose to look at it as you like. You live in a somewhat free country.

Ron, I was born and raised just about as far up north as you can get without living in Canada. I didn't spend part of each year in the south until I was in my early 30's. I do admire southerners though, and wish more folks across the country were like them.

Ann talks for entertainment...and many like to hear what she has to say...

My question has NEVER been answered...why is it only people on the right who have their freedom of speech taken away? Why are thene not hundreds of people on the right protesting all the liberals paid money to speak in colleges?

Ron said...

You have the secret game..entertainment..its show biz.
On that we can agree she is talented. Alan Berg, a talk show host from Denver was killed by right wing wackos some years ago. Timothy McVeigh blew up a whole building for his conservitive cause. They don't protest they just eliminate. Like it will somehow go away if they do that. ....By the way..the shoe thing...That's what Moslems do to show disdain. Rather than a liberal It was probably a Moslem.

Not trying to make a point here just fyi

The boos started at the university this past week when Coulter referred to former President Bill Clinton as an “executive buffoon.”
