MPS report finds continued crowding in 9th grade
You can read the whole story if you want. In it you will see some more reality about what is happening in an MPS building. Send the story to any suburban teachers you know, so they can realize how good they have it.
I want to focus on one comment in the article...read this:
But MPS officials argue that the state's definition - five unexcused absences in a semester, equal to about 95% attendance - is too stringent. The report lists the truancy rates if the definition involved 20 unexcused absences in a semester (equal to 78% attendance), and, by that standard, 26% of high schoolers and 9% of middle schoolers were chronic truants last year.
Did you read that, read it again. MPS believes that missing 10 school says a year is outstanding attendance. Missing 40 days is the limit for them. I am positive I didn't miss 40 days of school in my 18 years of schooling. People set such low standards for these kids, no wonder they fail.

they can do that in school...probably more chances for both activities actually
Scorpion says--
This is the time of year that many kids and their families return
home for the holidays to their warm weather countries. When they come back around March their spot is still current at their MPS school and they will receive their excellent attendance award at the end of the school year.
if they can make it back in 40 days they are honor students
