Follow the logic:
Republicans want to continue a piece of legislation that has been shown to disrupt and defeat many terrorist plots...
Dem's don't like it because it hurts our civil liberties...
Republican's add things to what would be the new patriot act to address the protection of civil liberties....
If the new laws were passes, we would have a law that protected us and kept our "civil liberties"...
Democrats block it....and get an extension....
So we have the same old patriot act that supposedly takes away our civil liberties, or if we let it expire have a much greater chance at a terrorist attack...
So what is your goal liberals? Tell me?
You must not want the patriot act at all....the parts that are not passed yet are critical to protecting the country....
There has not been one civil liberties violation documented in over 4 years of the patriot act....and to shut you up the Right added more laws to the Patriot act to guarantee there would be no problems....
Well, I guess you are consistent...you do whatever you can to hurt and weaken this country...so I guess good job for accomplishing your goals....hopefully you lose once again...

The Act was set to expire, but everyone wanted something in place. The Senate passed a 6 month extension, which was replaced but a much shorter extension by the House. It wasnt Republican vs Democrat.

DEMOCRATS this is an easy one.
BAH-Looney!!! OUR, as in yours and mine, Republican Congressman was one of the proponents of the House measure. He wanted a quick end to the problem, and not one that allowed the existing flawed program to continue, or a gap where lawmakers procrastinated until the last minute and kept puttering out extensions. I have a lot of complaints about Sensenbrenner, but I am on his side, this time.
Yes, Sensenbrenner is trying to do the right thing and get the new patriot act passed...it is Feingold who is trying to fillabuster...so it is a Republican trying to pass it, a democrat trying to block it....
Yeah...one is in the Senate, the other the House.
