What is important is not the story of them getting back together, there is a lesson to be learned.
A few lessons:
1. Dictators and evil leaders such as the ones who run Iran only understand force and power, it is all they will listen to...
2. When you need to get things done, you get a Republican in office....when you want someone to do the PC, non offensive thing that never works but might make you feel good inside....get a Dem in office.
Going back to Hillary's rewriting history comment, lets see if Dem's come on here and try and say the reason the hostages were released was not because of Reagan being elected....kind of in the same manner they can't give him credit for ending the cold war. Man, you guys must hate history almost as much as you hate facts.

OK, history questions I can answer quite thoroughly. Did Reagan end the hostage, no. Such a release was being negotiated before the election even happened. however, it probably did doom Carter into losing. Did Reagan win the Cold War? Not all by himself. It was tight positioning and steadfastness by him and our allies(Thatcher, Kohl, Mulroney), as well as realization of the detente started in the 70's and unraveling of the Soviet economy.
ya, it was not a one man effort...but it was is leadership that lead to the end of the soviet union. People who say they would have fell anyway: 1. are flat out wrong and 2. lying because they are all socialist and must think socialist russia was a great system.

That is why I 100% believe that liberalism is a mental disorder...which of the two statements is not true:
1. Reagan lead the battle vs communism and won
2. the hostages were released in Iran because they knew Reagan would kick their ass if they didn't....80 minutes after he was elected?
Both are 100% true to anyone who can think clearly...but you are a liberal and are not expected to EVER use common sense
Game, the world thought Reagan was a joke. Nobody was afraid of him when he was elected. The hostages were released because the greatest diplomat the US ever had as president was working on it for almost a year.
And yes, Reagan did lead the END of the cold war. Detente started in the 70's because neither side could afford the huge financial costs of the armament and science escalation. USSR because it just didnt have the pockets, and the US because Vietnam was too expensive. Its one of the reasons why Nixon up and ended the conflict. He wanted to use that money for dealing with the USSR and China. With the US being at peace for most of the 15 years between Vietnam and the fall of the Soviet Union, they could afford to play Reagans game.
Again, its in the details. Specifically, MY details. ;)
the stockpile of nuclear and conventional weapons is a major reason Russia fell...they could not keep up with the big bills associated with it.
I still do not agree with the Iran crisis...tell me why the hostages were released minutes after Reagan was elected President? this is really easy to figure out
A political system that can't keep it's populace in toilet paper and vodka is bound to fail.
Iran kept the hostages long enough to shame Carter. Which he richly deserved for his ineptness. The man is a complete fool. I'm still waiting for Hollywood to make a feature about the event. The HBO film was okay. But I guess we'll have to wait for Cater of kick-off before we see a movie.
Reagan did indeed threaten Iran if they did not give up the hostages immediately. But the shame is all Carter's.
