This story is the difference between the Right and the Left. Eventually people on the Right can admit mistakes and try and fix them. The Left simply yells harder, louder and longer in an attempt to distract people from their weaknesses. The Left embraces their weaknesses, the Right (hopefully) tries to fix them.
This is why the Right can remain in power for years to come. The Left doesn't even have a clue why they keep losing elections. They think they have to be MORE liberal, which makes them look more and more like lunes.
I would LOVE to see more true conservatives, and a true conservative congress. Less spending and a crack down on illegal immigration would be great. Keep fighting the evil terrorists, and keep trying to get better, while the Left continues to continue with the same old song and dance...that just got voted off "Dancing with the Stars"

Conservatives call for return to core Republican principles

It would be nice. Instead we get losers like Bush, and real men like Dole, McCain, Bush Sr, Guiliani are marginalized or sent out to pasture. Each one of these guys hold more real leader in his hand when he pisses than Bush has in his and Cheney's bodies, together. I sometimes chafe at their methods or ideas, but they cant be criticized for their fiber. My uber-conservative buddy longs for a return to real Conservative politics, too. He has the intelligence to see past the Republican label, and see that the party cannot last hitching its wagon to the backs of religious fundamentalists and old boys clubs.
I have found myself at times voting for the Republican only because the Dem is worse. That is what many people end up doing and there is nothing wrong with that. If you think about it, people SHOULD have a core set of values, and they should vote for the person who holds those values. Most national politicians will vote party lines, so really you have to look at the party the person is in.
Local issues can cause someone to vote for someone of a party they normaly would not. I voted for a Dem in the last mayoral race...
I would feel better if someone ran as a true conservative. Low taxes, less programs, personal responsibility, stop illegal immigration and kill terrorist.
If you think about it the Left ALWAYS tries to look more conservative at election time...they vote for some sort of tax cut, they support something about the troops or the war...then they spend the rest of the time going far far to the Left...but hey, some RINO's do it too...
Yeah, I pride myself on voting for the best candidate, regardless of party. However, there are times when I pick the one who is only marginally decent, and his opponent is a loser. Or, times when I refused to vote for any candidate because they all sucked, like Pres 2000.
