LA Times writer tells the truth

I don't understand all this outrage.
He is just saying what most on the Left think.
How can you support the troops and not support the war?
He is saying that everyone who is against the war and saying they are for the troops is only whimping out on their true position.

Stein said he had long considered the issue and that whenever a politician opposes the war but supports the troops "I just always think they are covering their ass."
Asked if he had regrets, he said: "No, because I'm against the war. (I have no regrets) if this helps us get out of that war and bring our troops home safely."

This is one rare example of a liberal actual saying what they think. Hopefully it starts to happen more often, so the American people can truly understand what it means to be a liberal.

I don't see a link on this one, but I will say that it is a horse manure argument that you can't support the troops and not support the war. It's just plain warm, steaming horse manure.

If Bush tells the US military in Iraq to face north and start marching on Iran, are we supposed to say, "Well, we support the military, so by gosh we have to support this insane war because the dear leader in Washington says it's a noble cause?"

I've read you all griping about Clinton and Bosnia. You didn't support that war, did you? So I guess you didn't support the American troops either, right?

Talk about hypocracy.

Are conservatives really that stupid, or do they just see someone tearing at the Lefties, and cant help but to jump in alongside? I mean, I can see EH being that thick, but supporting soldiers(those are the individuals who fight) is possible if you dont support the conflict(thats the reasons why the soldiers are fighting). I mean, really...thats like 7th grade shit. I think a lot of people dont support the war because
a) Bush is a boner
b) Bush lied about the reasons for starting it
c) Bush is a boner

Personally, I have backed reason number 2. The summer it all started, I made that assertion, and have stuck to it. If he would have made a noble cause out of the effort, a lot more people would still be on his side. Instead, he tried to make everyone afraid, and like he was some posse come to save the day. And, he lied. Now, because he is a boner, those people can point to both reasons. So, I tread a bizarre line. I dont support Bush one ounce, and he is a liar. He would never have been able to get support for his war without it. He still hasnt finished the war in Afghanistan. That war, he was justified to fight. He couldnt wait to get into Iraq, so badly, that he fought the first one so pathetic, and then just tried to concentrate on the second. However, Saddam had to go. I feel no bad feeling that the US went there and took care of him. Overall, I knew there had to be a quick turnaround. Poor strategy, and planning have made it impossible. That is how you can disagree with the war, and still support the troops.

I have heard and seen much outrage from the right because of this, which I find prepostous. If anyone should be expressing outrage, it is the left, because one of their own has outed them.

I agree with mark, but I feel the outrage should be less from 'outing' than someone who is supposed to be educated, and is taking a most ignorant viewpoint.

This is a liberal who said it, he is a writer for the LA Times, look it up if you want.

Rhyno's tired arguement that Bush lied is crazy moonbat crap, not going to waste my time AGAIN going over what the word LIED means...

What are you supporting when you support the troops? You are not supporting their job...you don't want them there...you want them to come home and not do their job. So what are you supporting?

A great majority are proud of what they are doing...even though you will SAY they don't because two guys have complained.

Is William Safire a liberal because he writes for the NY Times?

Don't try this horse crap support the troops baloney. I see all the Support the Troops magnets all over the town I live in. I know what it means. It means George W. Bush is my lord and saviour.

Did you support the troops in Bosnia?

The Game said...

The sorry fact is that you never support the troops because you don't believe in their mission, their purpose...so get some balls and say what you really think of them....just as this guy did....its telling that your side is to embarrassed to say what they really think

Jim said...

Your thinking is so flawed it defies all logic. To claim somehow that there is a "fact" that I never support the troops is simply pulling stuff out of your butt.

What is it exactly that you suppose I think about our soldiers in Iraq that I'm afraid to say? Am I supposedly thinking that they are a bunch of snot-nosed, whiney, lazy, un-disciplined good-for-nothings who deserve to be shot at, wounded, and killed?

What exactly, EXACTLY do you suppose liberals think about the troops?

The Game said...

Here is what they think:
They don't want the soldiers to get hurt or killed, so they want them to come home...
They HATE the entire institution of the military, because fighting is wrong and everyone should talk out their problems.
So...liberals DO NOT support the troops...they might support life or human beings not getting killed...but you CAN NOT support people when you flat out hate what they do

Jim said...

You are deluded. Why do you think that liberals hate the entire institution of the military? It's an absurd assertion. My father was a 20-year veteran and a liberal. There are many people in the military today who are liberals. Liberals dislike war as much as Republics (I presume), but recognize the age-old fact that military force is sometimes necessary for self defense AND for protecting American interests. Liberals are not opposed to the military or what they do. Liberals are opposed to the wrongful, corrupt, illegal, or incompetent use of the military wherever and by whatever administration is in power.

I admire the military, I admire and respect the soldiers, sailors, flyers, and marines. I've honored and mourned the five young men from our town who have come home from Iraq in a flag-draped coffin.

Don't dare tell me I hate the military or what they do! You have no clue what I hate and what I honor because I'm just a liberal and all you know about liberals is what Rush, Sean, and Glenn tell you.

Glenn Beck does rock...
if I am wrong, why are people like John Kerryand Sen. Biden making references to our military being like Hitlers army, or pol pot, or like terrorists...don't tell me to get the links...we went over this during the election

Jim said...

That is what Rush said they said. But since you don't actually listen to what Kerry or Biden say or the context of their words (and why would you) you only have Rush, Sean, or Glenn's version which is always partisan, always misleading, and often an outright lie.

Yeah we went over this before and you attempted to say that anyone who would criticize the acts of an individual soldier is criticizing all soldiers. That anyone who criticizes military policies or Pentagon policies is criticizing the all soldiers. I didn't let you get away with it then, and I'm not letting you get away with it now.
