MLK Day

I hope that if MLK was alive today he would not be one of the black leaders blaming racism and white people for black's problems. I hope he would not be another liberal looking for another hand-out or excuse for failure. I'll include a few lines from his famous speech to show the current liberal and black leader what his message was, and what message should be sent out now.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!³

He talks of working together, not calling all white people racist. If we had more black leaders like him today, our inner cities might have a shot. Instead, they are given a welfare check from the Left in payment for their vote. Their kids standards are lowered, excuses are made as to why their test scores and attendance are pitiful. Liberals never comment on this because they know their ideas and thoughts have never and will never help any minority. Only the message of personal responsibility and self-help will save the day.

Only when more people like Bill Cosby stop being affraid of the intolerant liberals who ae deeply frightened of sucessful, intelligent black people will things start to change. When minorities get upset abou the Lefts attack on any minority who achieved greatness on their own like Powell or Rice, only then will things change.

All conservatives wish for this day. They are not the ones hoping a pathetic welfare check and an excuse will keep minorities quiet. The right wants all people to take pride in themselves, in thier communities, and in this country. That hasn't happened on the Left for many years now. If the poor and minorities could only see the only true path out of their situation is themselves.

Then you have a story about a parade for peace. You don't need a parade, that will not change anything...as you can see by reading the story.

MLK never blamed white people for the problems that blacks had. With all the sociology that went on in the 60's, his messages pertaining to 'white people' were often misconstrued. Therre intent was to refer to white persons, i.e. specific people in specific situations. I find it very disturbing that his great message has been twisted and used for individual advancement, while psychoes like the Black muslims are held to some high and inviolable standard that they twisted.

If you are saying I did that then you must not know how to read...

Man, this is getting frustrating...either rhyno is just trying to make a point...or very stupid and unable to comprehend...then when you add how Jim never understands a point...makes me wonder what is the point of doing this at all...

The first sentence of my conclusion:
He talks of working together, not calling all white people racist. If we had more black leaders like him today, our inner cities might have a shot.

Got MLK?

Mayor Nagin: "New Orleans Will Be 'Chocolate' Again"

How does he get away will that remark? Instead of finding solutions that brings the entire population of New Orleans together, Nagin seeks to pit race against race with a self serving remark. - EH

"We ask black people ... It's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans," Nagin said Monday. "This city will be a majority African American city. It's the way God wants it to be. You can't have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn't be New Orleans." - Mayor Ray Nagin

But remember EH...it is not racism unless a white person does it

Game,

Maybe if you took a little time to be thoughtful in your writing and your responses, if you took the time to read the postings on your site instead of assuming that since the posters are taking the time to post on your site, that they, like you, are "stupid", "labeled Conduct Disorder or Learning Disorder", "unable to comprehend", or "never understand a point", you wouldn't feel so frustrated.

Why do assume that rhyno is attacking you instead of confirming your implication that King did not blame white people for blacks' problems? Are you paranoid or just too lazy to read and try understand what people are writing?

Constant personal attacks such as yours are a sure sign of a feckless argument.

You left it a bit open. Just adding details.

wasn't sure rhyno...thanks for filling in more..

When is the last time Jim addressed what was in a post? Tried to explain the Lefts position? He can't, because they have looks so bad lately it is impossilbe.

I would ignore what they are doing too if I were you.

The Game said...

nothing on the alito post...Jim, do you understand how bad your side looked on that one...is was pathetic

Jim said...

What "side" am I on, Game? I agree that the Democrats on the committee did not do a very good job of delineating the real issues concerning Alito's nomination to the Court. These are four or five senators. They are not my "side."

Did any of YOUR "side" ask Alito why he apparently claimed not to recall his membership in a group that he proudly listed in a government job application? No? Then, didn't your side do a crappy job, too? Or are they simply there to rubber stamp Bush's choices? Why didn't they rubber stamp Harriet Myers?

I always respond to what's in a post. Why else would I contribute here? Is there a certain way I am supposed to respond besides, "You're absolutely right!"?

The Game said...

Is that really your big issue with Alito Jim? That is the best you can come up with? He was given the highest rating from the ABA, and he believes in protecting the constitution, and not making up laws...

He is strong, smart and a great choice...that is why he was not opposed by conservatives, who are intellectually honest. Hey knew Meyers was crap, and said it...that is a trait the Left does not have...
