Update

Pretty much all of you said that the teacher who looked at porn on a Sunday for a minute and thirty seconds should be fired...

Yesterday a corrections officer was given his job back AND A RAISE even though he was caught looking at porn for HOURS a day at work for months.

People care a lot more about kids (teacher scenario), than they do about criminals (guard scenario), I guess. I wonder why that is;)
Probably they just don't give a crap what sorts of perverts guards criminals. They probably don't even care if the guards are doing any work during guard duty, just so long as the criminals stay behind bars, and out of their path. And for heavens sakes! Just as long as someone other than themselves is willing to guard criminals! Don't you suppose?

Just another example of the double standard for law enforcement.

Two wrongs make a right?

didn't say that, just showing how the standards are different for different people

It's a matter of responsibility and accountability, though. For what I do for a living, I have to be repeatedly subjected to strict ethics evaluations. Some professions don't have the level of responsibility to warrant that scrutiny. Their actions on the job don't carry the same risk of potential for harm.

Let's not draw a conclusion from an anecdotal incident.
It is wrong for anyone to use company equipment and company time to view porn. Just common sense. If I did it, I'd be fired, as would most folks.

It doesn't matter line of work you're in - unless your business is porn, then you're doing R&D... and who wouldn't want that job? ; )
