Arab Company Accepts Broader Ports Review

Okay, if you take off your "I hate GWB" hat, there isn't anything to get mad about.
On the surface this sounds and looks terrible.
However, it seems to be working out fine.
If the government goes through the right channels, dots all the I's and crosses all the T's, then there is nothing to say.
If all these agencies and government groups look at the deal and say it is okay, the only way you could still be against it is:
1. you hate Arabs
2. you think this is a chance to hurt Bush.

That's it. The right thing will happen here. If the deal looks bad, it won't happen. End of story.

Your 2 step answer to the problem is much to simplified my friend.

1. I don't hate Arabs, but I have huge problems with the Religion of POS.

2. Bush is too Liberal for me, but I am one of his biggest supporters......While at the same time being one of the first to bust his balls if he screws up.

That said, I'm very against the port deal. I'm against P&O operating it also.......Hmmm.

After 9/11 we should have learned our lesson, but we haven't. The borders are soft as hell, and the ports are porous........We should make these two issues our most important matter in National Defense, but have chosen not to because we put the Economy over National Defense.

As such, I guess it doesn't matter who runs our ports.....As long as they are wide open any terrorist can get in through a million openings in the system.

As far as Bush goes, this deal is par for the course:

“He’s doing the right thing ‘over there’ (Iraq). Unfortunately, he’s not doing the right thing ‘over here’.” – MS

Come on over to the Right is Right......I've got an 8 part series on the topic. Today was #5

pero, I hope you respond to this...
you don't think that after a 45 day investigation if there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the port deal it should not go through?

My real question is...why are ANY other countries running our ports???

And I guess if the investigation finds nothing wrong...I have a hard time saying that we shouldn't let them run the ports because they are Arab...
more like, because they are not Americans...

I think we are more in line than you think.......You should notice my problem was with any foreigners running our National Defense, which includes the ports and borders.

Which was what my comment about P&O doing it too.

As far as the 45 day review.......They are just looking for a way to backtrack and get out of the situation without putting their necks any further out.

It'll be as big a joke as the Alito confirmation hearings.

No I won't be any more happy if they come out and say it is ok......They can say whatever they want.

What I do hope comes out is they change the process of these types of deals, throw in some serious oversight review processes, and start thinking of ways to get Americans to run these kinds of projects.

I just want to point out that pero and I can have an intelligent debate about an issue...even though we probably agree 80% on this, there was no name calling and emotional outbursts...

that is not what happens when you go to a liberal blog....like Real America (Ron) or dailykos....

They can not debate with their brains, only their hearts and emotions...

Anyway..when I first hear of this, it sounded really bad...I agree this sort of thing needs to be looked at closely...

I guess pero is getting me to see here that this could have slipped through the cracks...I am sick and tired of so many important things slipping through the cracks...

Why does this happen all the time....idiots in the government or too many people...too big a government?

Bottom line I guess...lets get AMERICANS doing these jobs..

Good question you asked: Why does this slip through the cracks.

NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!

Only 50% of the American people over 18 vote.....And far less than 50% of those who vote do anything other than vote......Well, that and bitch.

Most of the people in this country have no clue what's going on, and really don't care.......They just know they'll be watching their favorite TV show this week.

How many people seek out information? And I'm not talking about the garbage they get on the news.

Even worse, how many people write their representatives?

THE AMOUNT OF APATHY IS INCREDIBLE!! This is why this kind of crap happens.

I agree it is a problem that a vast majority of people don't know or want to know what is going on...

Many people I know think it is more important to know what happened on American Idol than what is happening in our government. While I am not against having fun and relaxing, the MOST important thing to know about and be involved in is your country. If good hard working people just put a little bit into the government, maybe it wouldn't suck so much.

I'm not sure you are all right though Pero....I'm not saying I know the other factors...but there is more to the fact that our goverment is run about as well as a ten cent lemonade stand.

I think some have just given up...hell, I know I want to sometimes. It seems not worth it. Our government is so full of waste and incompetent people, it seems to bad to fix. All the liberal programs that need to be funded...all the afirmative action and union rules...you'll never get all the crap out of gov't...don't know what it can take to fix it.

I don't think it is just people we elect, but the lifetime workers...they don't give a crap..

Anyway, enough for now
