No smoking outside

Here is another trick of the Left...reach your goals little by little.
You hear of the slippery slope, and usually don't care about it.
But in many cases, liberals fly down that slope faster than Cody Miller.
They say, "Oh no, it will stop here." Then they take a little more, and a little more.

Many issues happen this way...abortion and gay marriage are two big ones.
Convince people that they only want this "little thing"...then keep taking more and more little things until they have what they want.

In this case, liberals don't want anyone to smoke. It is banned in just about every public building, its illegal in a vast majority of businesses (even bars), some places have tried to ban it in people's houses....and now it is banned outside.

So the next time a liberal just wants to take an inch on an issue, remember that eventually they will have a foot (in the door).

I thought liberals love the right to privacy issue?
I guess only when it applies to killing a baby....but now to being able to smoke outside.
I don't understand that...liberals care about health and the environment sometimes, and don't when it comes to murder.

I don't smoke, but I agree. The government has no right to tell people where or when they can smoke or not to. At least, as long as it is still legal to smoke in this country.

If they want to outlaw smoking, they should just outlaw it and quit pussy footing around.

If they don't want to outlaw it, they shouldn't restrict it either.

In general, you are absolutley right about giving them an inch...

...unfortunately, this is one of the rare times that I like the outcome.

(In fact, I wish my office didn't stink every morning because we are TWO stories above a bar.)

And, I have to admit even from a Libertarian perspective I think smoking rises to the level of an assault on those around you.

It's the old, "your right to swing your fist ends where my face begins." I think people who inflict their smoke on other people in public places are swinging their fist wildly.

Well,
I agree that any buisness owner that wants to outlaw smoking in their buisness has the right to do so...and I like it when I go to a bar that doesn't have smoking...but I can't agree that the government should be able to tell people they can not do something that is legal. Now, there is some gray area...places where smoking is not common place like sporting events...I can see why you would make smoking illegal...but still have a few places to go smoke.

But when you take it as far as the liberals do in Cali, it just shows how much they do not respect a persons right to privacy...

Smoking is not a liberal or conservative issue. There are people on both sides of the debate from both sides of the political aisle.

Smoking in public is not a privacy issue, it affects other people. It's pretty straight forward. I'm all for anyone who wants to smoke doing so, but I don't want to breathe it in. Public buildings should be smoke free. I do think restaurants and bars, or buildings where people don't have to be, should be able to make their own choices.

And if you think liberals are the only ones to use the slippery slope, then you're just naive. I guess it just doesn't bother you when conservatives do it.

Give examples John...
And if this isn't a liberal issue, why are ALL the laws that are passed banning smoking in bars and OUTSIDE done in liberal districts...facts will the day again..

I'm a liberal and I am many more of us agree with you because we do believe in independence and privacy. I know you have to tar everyone that you don't agree with as a liberal though. Sad but that's the way it works these days with the cultobush, with me or against me,crowd.

by the way they did this ban in my home of Roswell NM. The old ladies ETC. Roswell is wildly conservative.

well ron, then just talk about the issue if you don't like the liberal/conservative words thrown in
