U.S. Reclassifies Many Documents in Secret Review

My initial reaction is to think that something is up...it seems sneaky...
But then I think....I have to trust our government, I have to trust that they are doing what it takes to protect us.

Then I read a bit down and see they are once again trying to fix something that hippie Clinton did. Man, that guy really hated anything that had to do with the military or intelligence agencies. That seems to go along with the hippie, free love, down with the man attitude.

So, is this a bad thing? Libs, are you always going to say that EVERYTHING the government does in secret is bad? I think there has to be things done that we don't know about, that no one knows about...

It must be a scam cuz the article is on the NYTimes, and according to you and others here they are a classless bastion of Hyper-Liberal MSM. For them to print this is impossible because according to Conservatives, the media NEVER covers anything that would show a liberal politician in a negative light.

I'm sure you won't do this, but I recommend you read "Worse Than Watergate" by John Dean.

It is about Cheney's (in particular) and Bush's histories of secrecy. It is well documented and footnoted with examples of how both have flouted the law in keeping documents and activities secret, and little if any of it has to do with national security.

Here is an interesting thought that Dean presents. Does it make sense that divulging the identities of those involved in the secret energy policy meetings would discourage others from giving advice to Cheney and the Bush administration? Who wouldn't want it known that Cheney was considering their advice? Think about that.

That is one of many interesting points documented in this book.

Trust our government? To borrow Reagan's words, "Trust but verify." You can't verify what is secret and has no oversight by any institution truly interested in accountability.

Hey, no real topic for this, right now. We all know my ability to despise Bush knows no boundaries, but I was actually impressed with his speech when he was in town yesterday. Should it actually come about, I will have to raise him a notch. I think I could tell he was telling the truth cuz he looked a bit uncomfortable.

Instead of comment here I'll write a post about it rhyno...

Jim,
I understand your point. There is definitely a line, but where is it. I expect my government to do some secret things...and if they need to do some secret things to keep us safe, then I don't care about that either.

Really it only matters when you have dishonest people doing things in secret. I know I know, Bush is evil so he must be doing evil things.

I would disagree, and not worry about this stuff unless something bad actually happens from this sneakiness.

It's not that Bush is evil. It's that Cheney is.

by the way, I wouldn't trust my government right now as far as I could throw them. That may seem "hate America" to you but they earned it in my book.
