Democrats Eager to Exploit Anger Over Gas Prices

HOW?

Gas prices are high....
1. Because there are enormous taxes on every gallon of gas. In WI I am pretty sure it is over 50 cents a gallon
2. Environmentalist will not let us drill for oil anywhere, put up refineries anywhere, or use nuclear energy...blame them...and which side are they on?
3. Third world countries and China are using WAY more oil, causing much more demand.

The Left is using their simplistic thinking again and trying to blame this on Bush. Bush wants to drill in the middle of nowhere in Alaska...the LEFT doesn't want that. The people IN the damn state want it, but Ted Kennedy in Mass. doesn't.

So why the hell should the Left get to exploit this issue? I know, with the liberal media on their side they will probably get away with it, but it is wrong....

As I recall, President Cheney put together his energy task force in the first weeks of the "Bush Administration."

Did they figure out a way to make us less dependent on Middle East Oil? No.

Did they figure out a way to get Americans to use less gasoline? No.

Did they figure out a way to raise the mileage standards for automobiles? No.

Did they drive research for alternative energy sources? No.

Did they observe how other countries, like Brazil, are becomming independent from Middle Eastern Oil? No.

Did this secret Energy Task Force, headed by the most secretive and powerful man in America, do ONE THING to reduce America's need for foreign oil.

No, but they did try to increase the supply of oil by divvying up the oil fields of Iraq with the US oil companies. Unfortunately, Donald Rumsfeld did not send enough US troops to Iraq to SECURE THE COUNTRY, much less the oil fields. So he kind of screwed up that idea.

Five years later and we are no better off, actually worse off than before the Energy Task Force met to set an energy policy for the US.

And you want to blame gas taxes? There have always been gas taxes. It's how we raise money to keep roads repaired.

The left can righteously exploit this issue because Bush/Cheney do NOTHING to reduce the need foreign oil.

Gas prices are high because of speculation on future supplies. There is plenty of supply for the US now. But because the Middle East is in turmoil, because Iraq is unstable and providing little if any supply, because Iran and the US are threatening each other, speculators are driving the price of oil upward. And it's going to get worse, not because of Democrats or environmentalists. Yes because of China for one thing. There is no accurate information about how much oil is in ANWR.

The Republics control the House, the Senate and the White House. The Republics have all the legislative and executive power. The Republics convened the Energy Task Force. Where are the new fuels? Where are the cars that will run on new fuels? Where are the higher MPG standards? Where is an all-out effort, as the Democrats have called for, to create a policy of energy independence within 10 years?

Where?

Lame lame lame...

Americans do not have to use less energy, that is why we are a free country...

They should increase the MPG for cars...

People have been trying to figure out effective alternatives for many, many, many, many years, still don't have one, but it is Bush's fault that we don't, wake up.

Since we dont have alternative sources yet, we need to get oil that is on our own ground and use it. We need to be able to drill it and refine it. But since environmentalist won't let us, we are in the mess we are in.

And how odd that someone trying to make a policy about energy consult the people who work in the energy buisness...man is that a scandal, wow....

What did Clinton do in 8 years by the way Jim, since you want to blame Bush for everything. What changed in 8 years? How did we become energy dependant then?

And yes Jim, I'm sure we have the exact same energy needs as Brizil, brilliant.

And if we went to war for oil like all you sheep like to say, where is the oil...oh ya, that is Bush's fault too...

Just blame Bush, everything is his fault...very nice.

We don't drill for oil, we have no refineries, that is not Bush's fault. What he has done is finally pushed for new refineries and nuclear power plants....there are two things he did, to Clinton and the envirnmentalists 0.

Impossible to argue with this kind of logic. You win.

I know...
common sense wins the day...
Americans can drive SUV's if they want...how many does John Kerry have in his motorcade everytime he goes somewhere

Doesn't matter if we are up to our eyeballs in oil. Refineries are at 110% capacity. There hasn't been a new refinery built in the US in more than 30 years. And that, my friends, can be directly traced to the enviro-wackos. NIMBY bastards, pardon my language.

The Game said...

thanks for the back-up...I made that point...but Jim and the Lefties refuse to admit they are the cause of the gas prices...

oh wait, its GWB's fault....my god,how lame

Once again you mis-interpret me. I did not say high prices are Bush's fault. I said that he has done nothing to prevent it. He has presented no policies which would actually do something to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

On an earlier post, yes it would be good to have people in the oil industry on an Energy Task Force. It would also be valuable to have scientists, engineers, foreign affairs experts and other as well.

We don't know who was there. It's still a secret. Why is that?

Regardless, what policies did this so-called Energy Task Force actually propose, much less put into place, that would do anything to avoid today's and future high gas prices?

Sorry that you don't get sarcasm. Your statement: "Americans do not have to use less energy, that is why we are a free country..." is one of the most inane, idiotic, self-absorbed statements I have ever read. It simply boggles the mind.

And if that is what you really think about this issue, then it is useless to debate this subject with you because it indicates that you lack any grasp of reality.

So once again I say, I give up.

like I said, atleast Bush is getting some refineries built, and he tried to expand drilling...

Did you ever think, lame, shallow-thinking game, that if the Repugs didn't give Dems so much to exploit and attack, that they wouldn't?

The Game said...

what they hell are you even talking about?

We are talking about the fact that gas cost so much, I am making the claim it is because of oil the restrictions on drilling, refining among other reasons...

take your medication and save your mindless bable for your liberals sites...if you want to come here say something intelligent if you can

Hell, that's really a good one.

Doesn't even know his own headliner:

And he says I don't know what I'm doing.

Get a life game puppy.

Oh, and the Archie Bunker act doesn't suit you any more (do you even know who he is???). Find another one, ok?

Jim --

I thought liberals supported high gas prices. That the point of Al Gore's gasoline tax -- "a way to get Americans to use less gasoline," as you hint.

Bush could push for price ceilings for gas, but that would lead to gas shortages. This is econ 101 my friend. Doing nothing about it is precisely the right idea -- the less government intervention, the better. People will drive energy efficient vehicles when the price of gas is sufficiently high. This sounds heartless to the socialist and just to lover of freedom.

Actually, Jim, I posted the stats on Ron's blog about Americans not needing to use less energy, because that isn't the cause of the crisis. You may or may not remember it, but it was from a liberal blog that I posted the stats from --

Here it is:

From How to make oil prices drop:

"Unfortunately we cannot move toward a more sustainable society by turning ourselves into a simpler society. Simpler arrangements or a sustainable lower standard of living are not likely viable solutions to the problems of political economy. While cutting energy usage on an individual scale is well-intended, it is not effective on an aggregate scale. This has to do with the capital costs of civilization. Simpler per capita in the end does not mean a more sustainable macro-economic situation unfortunately as we will see by looking at the case of China. More from Why Simpler is Not Better

However, my overall personal opinion is that if you don't like an economy and how it's going, or the prices of it, etc., then quit buying into that economy.

I do not appreciate the costs of gas, myself, and think they're bullsh!@. So, I've drastically cut my use of it. I do not use my gas heater, I do not use my car for anything but to get to work and back (a whole mile and a half a day, need to buy a bike for that, and will), and I don't use hot water for anything other than baths.

This is only an example of how I boycott the economies. I just don't buy into them. I think that if others did the same, it would make a drastic difference.

You don't like it? Bankrupt it --
