'PROGRESSIVE' MEDIA STALLS: 'AIR AMERICA' IN AUDIENCE PLUNGE NYC, 'DAILY KOS' BOOK SELLS ONLY 3,600 COPIES

Left-leaning new media has hit turbulence at the marketplace, newly released stats show.

A book hyped by major media as documenting a progressive revolution of "blogs" and political power, DAILY KOS 'CRASHING THE GATE,' has sold only 3,630 copies since its release last month, according to NIELSEN's BOOKSCAN.[NIELSEN claims only 2,062 copies of DAILY KOS have been purchased at the retail level; the rest coming through 'discount' outlets.]

Meanwhile, the just released radio Winter Book [Jan-Mar 2006] from ARBITRON shows AIR AMERICA in New York City losing more than a third of its audience -- in the past year!Among all listeners 12+, it was a race to the bottom for AIR AMERICA and WLIB as mid-days went from a 1.6 share during winter 2005 to a 1.0 share winter 2006.

During PM drive, host Randi Rhodes plunged to 27,900 listeners every quarter hour, finishing 25th place in her time slot, down from 60,900 listeners every quarter hour in the fall.

A network source says the radio ratings released today do not reflect the overall growth of the broadcast."The demos are better, and listeners trust AIR AMERICA to give them the real truth on issues and the Bush presidency," says the insider.

I love this story. No one listens to liberal media (atleast the ones that admit they are liberal).
Why is that? Ummmmm....because liberalism is all emotional and people don't want to listen to that crap. Talk radio is about ideas. Even liberals who don't like the ideas listen because there is interesting debate.

If Dem's do pick up seats...it will not be because anyone really agrees with liberal ideas...if they did, liberal radio and books would sell better. Eventually things change, right or wrong...that is why liberals might win in Nov.

And I love how the guy for AA lives in complete denial. He is lying just like the guy from Penn state is....and no there are no specific facts...just common sense.

Dude, we've had this discussion before. You need to break down the stats based on access and population. Only then can you claim any 'significance'.

what are you talking about?

If AA is on in a city, and they get a .6 rating, they suck and no one listens to them....how hard is that to figure out.

IF, IF, IF, IF, IF

Plus, Nielsen rating is lame and only a simple measure. To claim anything other than 'more people are listening', you need to evaluate all the groups and factor only those which combine the same attributes. To enhance your chance that you might be correct, you have to re-analyze under different conditions as well as account for any instances of variance. Thats is about as simple as I can make significance and experimentation wihtout sitting down next to you. One simple junk stat doesnt make theory.

What the hell!!!

we are talking about ratings, the ONLY measure anyone uses...I just finished my masters so I understand exactly what stats and research are all about...

and YES, there is not a statistically significant way to do radio ratings, but since EVERYONE in radio goes by them, they are what we use...and AA has NO ratings..

How the hell can you even argue that AA is NOT in the complete toilet

Game,

You are quick to label people who say something counter to what you believe a "liar." You are obviously desperate, without an argument, and totally lacking in credibility.

A person with information about the Penn State issue that differs from your view (not your view actually, you just read it from hack Malkin) is a liar according to you. Pathetic.

Hillary Clinton you call a lifetime liar. Prove it!

You are constantly bemoaning the fact that people say Bush has lied. "You can't prove that Bush lied," is your cry.

Actually you can, and I have. And Rice and Cheney.

By the way, did you know that Crashing the Gates is #25 on Amazon.com and #5 in the politics category.? Drudge is lying, too. But he's in GOOD COMPANY.

I am still waiting for someone to show how Clinton knows that troops will not have the list of things she cited because this money is being taken away....and I bet I will keep waiting

AA = Air America?

I am not a radio person, so I dont know. I read Franken's shit online.

Oh, and Jim, I think Hillary is very opportunistic in what she says and does. She is almost as slick as her husband, but without a fraction of the charisma, so she gets busted on it quite frequently.

See, but you said AA sucks based on their Nielsen rating. Thats not an unfounded theory. Sorry, I was pretty tired last night, and simple ideas just werent popping in.

Um, just so happens that Hillary Clinton is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. She might have some idea about how the money is spent.

And from one of your favorite sources, Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit writes:

"DRUDGE / KOS UPDATE: I was a bit skeptical about the Drudge numbers on Kos's book, and it turns out I was right to be. A publishing insider sends me some info that makes Drudge look kind of bad. Click "read more" for it. The gist is that Kos isn't doing all that badly -- and that Drudge isn't in any position to point fingers.

UPDATE: On the other hand, Radio Equalizer claims that Drudge understated Air America's problems.

ANOTHER UPDATE: An apology to Kos (but not from Drudge)."

And Reynolds again:

"I haven't read all of Crashing the Gate, but I thought what I read was pretty good..."
