Well, on this blog in the last two days, everyone has AGREED on TWO issues...
1. Nuclear power is safe and should be used more
2. Abstinence should be included in sex education
Lets has an honest debate...
Why is the govt completely impotent right now?
They can't agree on ANYTHING...
And if you come here and simply say that "Republicans are evil and hate mongers"
then just save it, looking for real ideas.....AND solutions.

I would say the one major reason that the government seems impotent is that election campaigns are funded by special interests, and there is no special interest that doesn't have an opposite special interest. So those with the most money have the best chance of being elected and need to keep their "constituents" happy for the next election. Those constituents with opposite special interests supporting them will fight against the majority party, which they should.
Make elections publicly financed and maybe politicians will act in the interest of the greater good, not the greater wallet.

I don't think what you say is false, but it has been true for a long time...(worse now thanks to your boy Russ and McCain)...but since money has driven politicians forever, why is it so divided NOW...
Money hasnt always driven politicians. Though, its always been around. Hunger for power has always driven politicians.
