Rep. Harold Ford: Powell Should Replace Rumsfeld

Rep. Harold Ford, Jr., D-Tenn., said President Bush's announcement of a top change at CIA should not be his only personnel decision this week.

Ford, appearing on MSNBC's "Imus in the Morning," suggested the president should bring Colin Powell back into the administration to replace Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense.
"I think Donald Rumsfeld has tried hard, he is a patriot, but he has failed," Ford said. "It's time to bring a new person in."

When pressed for replacement suggestions, Ford was ready with an answer.
"If I was president, I'd bring Colin Powell back. He has the stature, he has the respect. He'd travel the world and signal a new chapter has begun. I'd have him get us out of this mess [in Iraq]."

I actually agree, but not exactly for the same reasons as Mr. Ford. Just about everything going on in the Bush administration right now looks or sounds bad. there is no positive message getting out...

Bringing Powell in will get the war on terror a fresh start, even if Powell does 90% of the same things Rumsfeld did. Its all about the sell, the perception...

Whatever happens, Bush really needs to do something fast...how much farther can his numbers drop???
There are quite a few ways that I have said over and over regarding how the Right November Nobember....so far they are doing just about the exact opposite.
