FNC Working on 'Daily Show' Rival

Fox News Channel is currently thinking about a new show that is supposed to be a conservative version of the very liberal "Daily Show," seen on Comedy Central.

I've long thought conservatives should take a stab at televised political parody. The last time it was really done was during Rush Limbaugh's short-lived syndicated show which was doomed by niche audiences and unsympathetic programming. In the cable age, though, this type of show really has potential. I was pleased to see FNC has apparently chosen just the person I had in mind for such a show, radio host Laura Ingraham.

TV Newser has more details, noting that the show may never happen since it's only a pilot.

OMG!!!! Put Dennis Miller and Norm McDonald in there and you might have a show that is better than Glenn Beck.
I used to love the Daily Show...when it was hosted by Mr. Craig Kilborn

Oh, and dont forget that the Rush bits werent funny. Dude, you are never going to fin a Con funny guy to do this. First, despite its very Left leaning, the Daily Show still deals true news before going on a Lib rant. Also, he rips on Libs just as easily. You'll never see that on a Faux News show. Second, even Dennis Miller hates the state of Cons right now. Unless he has publicly stated a return to the Right, he is nicely nestled here in the center. Thats not a place Faux News wants its staff. You already lost Bill Maher, and Norm McDonald was never a Con. If anything, Norm is merely one of us Libertarians, and wants to bring all your shit down, Con or Lib. Can you even name a Con funny man, these days, other than Jay Leno or (maybe) Dennis Miller?

Dennis Leary could be good. He's not a Republican, but he hates vegetarians and hippies, which is good enough for me.

There already is one: The Colbert Report.

if you took off your blinders and saw what fox was, you would understand how Norm or Dennis would be PERFECT for a right leaning Daily Show...it doesn't have to be as far right as the Daily show is left...
And Norm is a conservative, so is Miller

Miller used to be funny. He isn't anymore.

PJ O'Rourke = right leaning = funny

Mallard Fillmore = right leaning = not funny

Doonesbury = left leaning = funny

Jeneanne Garafolo = left leaning = not funny (at least not when tilting left, her standup used to be pretty good)

Why not be funny first, political second? It'll at least weed out who's funny.

Miller and McDonald are not exactly "conservative" comedians...they just lean that way...
So it would not be annoying like the daily show, or any comedian who is on the tinker toy radio station air america...there would be some for everyone...
but it is clear miller has a conservative following...I saw him in Vegas, atleast 70% conservative crowd.

I'll give you that. He may have a Con following. He and McDonald are pretty center from the newer stuff I have seen. Old stuff is Lib, then Miller seemed to be dead Right. Now, it doesnt seem that way. It was easier to be Right when the best gag getter in the country was the Liberal president.
