About 450 detainees have been released from Iraqi and US-run prisons under a national reconciliation plan aimed at bringing insurgents into the political process and ending the deadly tide of bloodshed in Iraq.
But almost 70 people have been killed in attacks across the country over the past 24 hours, including 22 people blown up by a motorbike bomb while they were watching a World Cup match in a largely Shiite village.
Doesn't this seem like a bad idea?
Now, it is what liberals would want...be nice to the enemy so they like us more...
But it seems like that plan has already failed 24 hours later...70 people killed.
I believe the best way to stop the bad guys is to put them in jail..or in a war situation, kill them...playing nice nice with them doesn't work.
What do you think?

I think the only people I've heard justify this is Republics who want to "prove" that the Iraqi government is sovereign and needs to make some kinds of deals in order to further the political process.
Salmonella. Welcome! Nice post!
You are right. If granting amnesty brings troops home and allows Bush to declare victory, Game, the Republics, and all Bush supporters will jump up and down with glee that Bush had let Iraq make a political decision to grant amnesty in hopes of forming a democracy out of chaos.
the key word of your post is IF amnesty works...anything that WORKS is good...I asked if this will work...and my answer is that it will not...
sal..good post, I hope you have more success at making sense for him than I have had.
Game...70 killed...not an unusual day in iraq.
For that matter, not an unusual day in the U.S.
