SE PUEDE GET TWO YEARS TAX-FREE!

Some highlights, click on link to get all the wonderful thoughts expressed by my love, Ann:

The "path to citizenship" that Bush and the Senate are trying to pawn off on Americans requires that illegals pay huge fines and back taxes, with "huge" being defined as a $2,000 fine and taxes for three of the last five years. Even with the special "Two Years Tax-Free" package for illegals, this is about as likely as me paying my dad back the money I "borrowed" from him when I was in college.

Inasmuch as most of these low-skilled immigrant workers are in the 0 percent tax bracket, this should be a real boon for the U.S. Treasury. Indeed, the government may end up paying the illegals money: "Let's see, Juan. According to our records, you owe us 0 percent for the past three years, and because you qualify for the earned-income tax credit, we actually owe you! Are 20s OK?"

The Senate bill also forgives illegal aliens who have committed identity theft by stealing American Social Security numbers to get jobs.

So in addition to the Two Years Tax-Free plan for illegals, they get one free felony. Also, illegal immigrants from Mexico qualify for affirmative action, allowing them to get into U.S. colleges with lower grades and scores than Americans.

What's the process for losing your citizenship and becoming an illegal alien?

Even if one accepts Bush's theory that we need more immigrants to do the jobs that lazy, shiftless Americans won't do, isn't it possible that Korean immigrants, Italian immigrants or Indian immigrants would work hard too? But they can't run across the border to America, so they're out of luck. (Unless you are spokesmen for the Taliban, in which case there's a seat waiting for you at Yale.)

Since when did conservatives start encouraging people to walk more? What are we, a bunch of Al Gores now?

Ann is being sarcastic Ron, way to pick up on it...

And I think about 3% of people actually work for minimum wage...

can you are anyone live on six bucks an hour rhyno...what did that do to help anyone?

But, but, but game....if they are working, isnt that the only thing that amtters?

not even the point...the minimum wage is a joke, no one makes it, and if any adult works for minimum wage, they fucked up pretty bad throughout there life to have no skills whatsoever to get a better job

No, it doesnt. If they dont have access to resources like the bus or had crappy teachers who never made an effort to teach them anything in school and just let them pass into the next grade thereby never learning proper reading and writing, then they may only have access to minimum wage jobs. Personally, I have never worked for minimum, but when work has been hard to find, I have taken jobs pretty close to it, just because I needed any job. Finally, what small businesses are going to be hurt by a rising minimum wage? All small business owners I know, pay well above that for a decent reliable worker. Its turd corporations that will feel the change, but only because they pay ridiculous scale salaries to their officer team, and cant afford to pay a livable wage to the tens of thousands of other people that work for them.

Game, if she is just being sarcastic why does she say this kind of thing so often. You say she is being sarcastic, I'm not convinced. It seems to be her mindset.

the minimum wage thing is a whole 'nuther debate. I dont have the energy right now. Lets just say if people cant make a living then we dont have an economy worth having.

Clint, you deserve to be a laborer as your concept of spatial relations and logic is lacking. Just because you are making $2 more than minimum wage, now, doesnt mean you are making less money than when you were making $3 over min. If min remains static, then you have a case. If min is dynamic, then your relation to the factor is what changes, and not your final wage. Also, despite what any lughead says, the minimum wage has nothing to do with cost across board or bottom line. High top exec and overlapping mid management cost are far more likely to present a problem in those areas, except in certain niche markets lacking a large profit margin.

even at an inner city public school, most teachers are teaching...it is the kids and parents fault if they do not have the skills, period...for example, I just had a class where I gave 7 groups topics on drugs to research, type up a report and make a poster...probably 3 of the 7 will even turn anything in...that is not MY fault...I wonder how you can be so ignorant on this working in a school...maybe go a little earlier and see how things really are in the classroom...

anyone who puts a majority of blame on the teachers has no clue what is really going on

Oh, that's why we're in the crunch to bring teachers & classes up to GWB's standards eh (which in themselves aren't very high)

I wouldn't put my own worst enemy, much less my own kids, in a U.S. school.

Here's how it works on minimum wage, folks:

1) Minimum wage goes up

2) Business have to raise prices to afford it, because now that's what they now have to pay

3) Businesses lay off a worker or two or three to be able to afford the new minimum wage right along with their higher prices

4) Now people are out of work

5) Now people can't afford to shop at the businesses

6) Hurt economy because of all of the above

Dedanna is against minimum wage going up for all of the above reasons

Dedanna thinks that if people are going to pay anyone worth a damn to work they should do it to start with, without having to raise the minimum wage

'nuff said

Game, I agree with you on teachers. There are a lot of piss poor parents out there and after all it is their responsibility. That said kids are harder to deal with today. I think a part of it is motivation comes from dreams. Most young people today from what I can see don't dream about anything except maybe being some kind of "star". The American Dream is more a fantasy in these peoples minds. They don't understand how important their contribution, whatever it may be is. They feel like a number to pervert Bob Seger. Don't get me wrong, I'm not into this "self esteem" movement. Self Esteem should be earned not given. Kids need to understand that too.
I can tell you for a fact that even if you work hard it is no guarantee of huge success. Or even a good living anymore. Somehow that needs to change to fix this problem...only one part but an important one methinks.
