Treat me like I'm black, sez Teddy's son

Fresh from rehab, Rep. Patrick Kennedy said yesterday he wants to be treated like an African-American from Washington if and when he gets charged for crashing his car on Capitol Hill.

Denying that he was drunk and or that he asked the Capitol Police for preferential treatment, Kennedy, a Rhode Island congressman, said he's prepared "in terms of bookings, in terms of mug shots, fingerprints, whatever they might have me do."

"It's what anyone else would have done to them if they were an African-American in Anacostia," Kennedy said in a shaky voice, referring to the mostly minority neighborhood in southeastern Washington.

How screwed up is this guy?
Number one, if a Republican said this it would be on page one of every paper in the United States...
Two, why is this even said....it is because he is a Kennedy, and he wants everyone to feel sorry for him just like liberals feel sorry for blacks because they supposedly get picked on all the time...
So, the race card comes out even when it doesn't apply at all...
I guess when your playbook only has about 10 pages, your options are limited...

The possiblity exists that he is truly trying to humble himself but even at that is was not a very good way to do it.

that is the best thought I could come up with...but even if you are right, he is really screwed up

Seems to me all he is saying is "give me no prefential treatment."

What is wrong with that? First you rail at him because he apparently DID get preferential treatment, now when he asks to be treated the same as the average DC citizez, you rail at him again.

The name is Kennedy so you just have to say something bad about him. Must be a light news day.

Man, you have no clue Jim...
Even Ron sees how this is atleast a poor way to go at it...you don't even have the ability to comprehend what I was saying, do you...

Because I disagree with you, I don't have a clue? Is this your rationale?

Sad.

I haven't read how you would have handled it. You have only offered your scorn because his name is Kennedy and his uncle is a liberal.

Other than that, you've got nothing.
