City state of emergency to continue

Mayor Frank Melton has decided to extend the state of emergency in Jackson for the second time, Cmdr. Tyrone Lewis said Sunday.

Melton has said the emergency proclamation is the most effective way to fight crime, which has increased since he took office a year ago.

The order, which originally was signed on June 22 for a five-day period, will be extended through Friday.

Under the proclamation, minors are subject to a 9 p.m. curfew on weeknights and 10 p.m. on weekends.

This will happen more and more as we keep ignoring the true problems of the inner city, which I have talked about many times. I have commented that driving through them is like driving through Baghdad....certain people get so upset about people getting killed in Iraq and the "martial law" that is enforced at times with curfews...well, the inner cities are just as bad, probably worse, and atleast two cities have had to call a state for emergency...New Orleans had to call in the National Guard.
Civilization is going backwards in our inner cities...but we will keep ignoring it, or blaming everyone BUT the people living there...

Scorpion says---
Maybe they need to take their ball
park area and parking lots and use them for partying-cruising--socializing with friends. This has already been suggested by another
"political giant" for Miller Park.
Of course, you could fill the Police wagons easily in making arrests and collecting weapons.

Didnt they shut down all the 'urban' areas at Summerfest, scorp. Are they REALLY trying to use Miller Park for it?
