Beautiful day once again for the fair...the Fair has no excuse if they do not break records this year...
Final Grand Stand Review:
You could have called this a 1950's and 60's hits countdown. Felix Cavaliere came out and did 45 minutes of hit after hit after hit. He added a few covers to become the best wedding singer in the world. People were dancing and having a good time, every song was catchy and made you want to atleast tap your feet. That is the kind of music they made back then.
Johnny Rivers did the same for an hour and 20 minutes. The crowd of over 4500 was singing and dancing the entire time. I made a funny observation about the crowd. It was an average crowd for the fair, but usually there are about a 1000 people sitting in the upper deck. There couldn't have been 40 people up there for this show. Everyone decided to sit on the lower level and just go farther down. I guess with an older crowd they were not interested in walking up another flight of stairs. Rivers blew two amps rocking the place. He told me after the show that the young man working for the audio company asked "What should we do" Rivers in a old fashion-common sense manner said, "Plug another one in"
Rivers then went into the Fair and signed autographs for anyone who wanted one. He was not that interested in taking pictures because that didn't make him money. But give him credit, he stayed out there 45 minutes for the fans.
Well, the best 11 days of the year is over once again...and once again it is bitter sweet. I love the fair, but it gets you so tired that you are happy when it is over. Hope everyone got out to the fair, and I hope you all go have some fun while summer lasts, it will be over before you know it.
