Day one in Review:
I got to work early and walked around the fair for about a half an hour. What a wonderful place to be.
I didn't want to pig out on the first day, so some cheese nuggets was all I got.
I once again found out that there was not Silly Dilly at the Fair, so no beef sticks for me again...boooo
However...
An endless supply of food, hundreds of varieties. Cream puffs, cheese curds, every kind of meat ever eaten by man, turkey legs, ect....
Then, I noticed all the different kinds of people. The fair isn't just looking for 40-50 year old white guys...EVERYONE was there. Old people, young people, black people, white people, city people, suburban people, country people....
And so much to do. You can look at all the exhibits in the Exhibit hall, go to the circus, the racing pigs, go through all the barns, look at baby animals, fly down the giant slide, go to the mid-way, listen to all kinds of music...drink beer...EVERYTHING.
When I go to Summerfest, I go get some food, sit down, eat it...that took 15 minutes, now what do I do...
You can do stuff at the fair for hours...and if the only thing you care about is drinking expensive beer (only reason to go to Summerfest)...you can do that too...
So, if you are a family, single, married, old, young, whatever...you would be a fool not to go to the Wisconsin State Fair atleast one or two days...see ya there...
Review of Grandstand show:
Now, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel can review every piece of crap band at Summerfest, but I bet you will see NOTHING about the State Fair.
Tonight was one of only two country nights. It was, without a doubt, the most attractive line-up EVER at the Wisconsin State Fair.
And I am reminded as I work the country shows how nice some people can be. Danielle Peck doesn't need to say hi to me, but she does and tells me she hopes I stick around to watch the show. She is nice enough to talk to me about her tour, how she misses home, ect...
Bomshel was VERY nice. They talked to me about being home ONE day last month...these people are on the road all the time. Interacting with people like that is what makes the Fair the greatest time of year....
The headliner was Miranda Lambert and there were 4500 entertained by a girl prettier than any of the stupid American Idol's and a hell of a lot more talent. Plus, she has earned to headline a show, and didn't get the most phone call votes....
They all put on good shows. Bomshel played a GREAT version of the Devil Went Down to Georgia, and Miranda played over an hour with a great booming voice, and many other visual talents that I'm sure atleast part of the crowd enjoyed.
A great night at the Grandstand if you like good music...there wasn't a whole lot of number one radio singles, but maybe that is whats wrong with the radio...

Gotta love the racing pigs. What, exactly, are you doing at the fair? I might be there on Monay.

OMG I can't believe you posted Frampton Comes Alive! I used to have that album (and yes, an actual album, 33 1/3)!
Wish I still had it --
he'll be at the fair tonight
Growing up in Iowa I can relate to the racing pigs..the jelly bellys kind of scares me though!:-)
