I am getting so tired of reading story after story of how we are unable to hold accurate and efficient elections...
Was this always a problem and no one reported it?
I don't think that is the answer, so what is going on.
And I have to agree with Jim, I honestly do not trust these electronic machines at all...
What happens when they don't work?
What happens when there is computer error?
Why is there so much computer error in govt now a days?
The scan ballots that have arrows to fill in seems to work well, and if something happens, there are paper ballots to look at.
I will not go as far as Jim and other liberals and say this is a vast right wing conspiracy in regard to electronic voting.
I think it is govt over reacting to the 2000 vote and instead of taking a deep breath and thinking, they do what govt always does....spend a lot of money without regard to doing the job right.
It happened with Katrina clean-up money, and it seems that the govt thought that just buying lots of computer voting machines would be so much better.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but give me a paper ballot....and check my ID for God's sake.

Whether or not you believe there is a "vast right wing conspiracy", the fact that these machines are so vulnerable to manipulation make ANYTHING possible and plausible.

I agree with you. I support the Republicans these days, and I'd rather have a paper ballot.

So why do you think some people might suspect that these machines were hacked in 2004?
I would have to hope he meant all the money he collected would give Bush Ohio...not cheating...is there any proof of that? Doubt it...
We need to worry about the whole issue of electronic voting machines, not these theories...
Of course there is no proof that he did it. It's too simple to do to prove who may have done it.
That's MY POINT, Game. It's not the claim that he MAY have done it. It is the proof that IT IS POSSIBLE that it was done, quite easily.
And until something is done about it, EVERY CLOSE ELECTION where voting machines are used lacks integrity.
Damn, I haven't seen us all in so much agreement...ever! Let's get this done and save democracy and representive government for all of us. This is VITAL.
I don't know of anyone who prefers the electronic method over the "tried and true" for all the reasons listed. Mark this on your calendars boys, we'll never have consensus like this again.
