NYC Mulls Ban on Trans Fats in Eateries

NO NO NO NO NO
This is wrong on so many levels.
It is not the government's job to do things like this...we are not a communist or socialist society.
Yes, the governments number one job is to protect its people...but I do not believe they should be protecting us from our own personal decisions.
Conservatives keep saying this is a slippery slope. The ones who push for smoking bans and every other ban say that this is the only one. But they are going to keep going until we are like societies in the movies. Like in Demolition man. Some of you will laugh at that, but this story proves that the health police will never stop until every single unhealthy thing is illegal.

Just watch, a "fat tax" is coming. Laugh now, then say you are sorry when junk food and fast food has an extra tax.

Liberals won't be satisfied until they replicate, "Escape From New York" and wonder why they are the inmates of NYC.

In a way I can see it though. It's because of society in general these days. People are too stupid to read or care about labels, and to find out what's in that McDonald's Big Mac, so people in gov't think they have to control our fast-food junkie's intakes, and make them aware of what's good and bad for them.

We've become such a junk food junkie society, wanting the quick 'n easy. Quick 'n easy isn't necessarily what's good and right for us. If I had my own way, I'd shut down fast food joints altogether (what the heck's wrong with cooking something healthy for you?), but that ain't gonna happen, so...

I do agree that once aware though, people should be able to make up their own minds. It's just increasingly hard to get the word out to all of them.

I did say, and I quote: I do agree that once aware though, people should be able to make up their own minds.

Game, I'll be consistant. I hate stuff like this. We had a smoking ban in all public places put in place in Roswell. Voted on overwhelmingly by our city council. This county is over 70 per cent republican. I think you will find the republicans(conservatives) are different in smaller towns than in bigger cities. I argued on my show that this should be left up to the business owner. Even if they want to do it only on certain days..whatever. This could have been done without government intervention. You would have been shocked to hear all the good conservatives telling me how I was advocating something harmful to their kids and families and their good little town. You and others on this blog need to get out a little. I mean around the country. The "liberal" "conservative" thing is not nearly as black and white as you pretend.
Regardless of the politics I agree that government intervention to this degree is a usurping of personal freedoms.

well, in Wisconsin it is always liberal communities or atleast a Democratic mayor trying to get the conservative council to do it

I think this effort would be an asinine waste of time.
