Ayatollah: Thank Allah for Democrats' victory

Since Washington's hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation."

Liberals, how do you feel that our enemies are glad you won? That crazy people who say that Hitler never killed the Jews, and have said they will destroy the West and Israel are glad you won?

did I say that?
sorry I did not write the post in a low enough grade level for you

Now we believe anything and everything they say? This is propaganda stuff just like any other struggle. If the Republics had maintained congressional control, the spin would have been that they were glad because US policy would stay the course and that would continue to help them recruit more jihadists.

How do I feel IF they are glad? Makes no difference to me because our fighting them intelligently, with determination and competence will make them glad all the way to their graves.

Well, you did call them crazy...and as a general rule, I try not to listen to what crazy people say.

It is obvious violent jihadists with hegemonic aims prefer negotiation and diplomacy. For thinking this, I must be as nuts as apocalyptic Muslim fundamentalists, according to the new liberal orthodoxy.

The irony is that in the 1930s everyone thought the same thing. Hitler and Mussolini couldn't possibly mean what they say, what was going on in their countries is a phase that will pass, let's send Chamberlain to Germany and get peace in our time-- we all know how that worked out.

What's worrying me now is that Bush seems to be drinking the Democrat Kool-Aid.

Jason,

Whiles "violent jihadists [have] hegemonic aims", by what evidence can you assert that they "prefer negotiation and diplomacy"?

Right Jim, we have been convinced on this blog that these people won't negotiate and have no desire for diplomacy and now we are told they are glad because of that? Circular logic is the reason I quit trying to debate these guys a long time ago. The radical right is full of circular logic and I would rather get somewhere.
Germany and Italy were nation states with a well defined military, planes, ships, natural resources, the whole gamut. To pretend an itll defined bunch of religious radicals is tantamount to what we faced in world war 2 or to pretend that they can or should be fought in the same way is talking just for debate sake and not for solution finding. Part of the reason the right lost is because of this. People are on to their wacky debate tactics and lack of a solution.

With diplomacy and negotiation coming from us, the scumbags will have the time they need to do what they want to do. Thus, they are glad. It's not because they will indeed negotiate in good faith. Rather, they will, as they have done, appear to be on board with negotiating. It is far easier to build up one's resources when one doesn't have to at the same time use those resources. With a Republican victory, they would not be joyous in the knowledge that they must deal with an America that will continue to kick their asses. Is that spelled out plainly enough?

I would also question any statement about how there may be a better strategy for fighting them more intelligently now that Dems control Congress. If they cut or reduce funding for this war, how can that be possible. This is something that some Dems have said or suggested they will do. Plus, when it is only a "situation" as opposed to a war, where's the intelligence there? Finally, we have a recent example of how the Dems would deal with this situation, and we had embassies and barracks bombed, a ship with a hole blown in it, and a couple of huge towers destroyed.

Name one Democrat who has said he or she will vote to reduce funding for the war.

Bush did absolutely nothing about the Cole. He also did NOTHING to prevent 9/11. I'm not blaming 9/11 on Bush, nor am I releiving Clinton of any responsibility for it, but after all is said and blamed, Bush and Rice did NOTHING to prevent 9/11 even in the face of dire warnings from the head of the CIA as well as the FBI.

So don't try to claim that the the Dems or Gore or anybody else would have done worse than Bush.

The best thing you can do with the terrorist is ignore their rantings. They are goofy nutcases and we all know it. Just continue forward and don't let them divide US.

Yeah, Jim, we all agreed on earlier posts that more should have been done prior to 9/11. Yet, prior to 9/11, there was a blatant difference in the mindset for dealing with the scumbags. Rather than argue over whether Gore would have done worse than Bush "after" 9/11 (stupid question---of course he would've), let's consider whether Bush would've been a big pussy after each attack on our interests. Considering he already saw that area of the world as a huge problem that needed addressing, I think not.

Don't quote me, but I believe one who spoke of defunding the war was Rangel. I'm not about to go searching for exact quotes, but it seems to me, that for a party that whines about the money being spent on the war, to say they would prefer to curtail it is hardly a leap of logic. Of course Dems say lots of goofy things, so who knows what they'll do?

Ron,

They are goofy nutcases who have proven they are capable of all sorts of nasty business. Ignore them at your own risk. I hope the Dems wise up on that score. As to letting them divide us, that's crap. It's been the Dems who have been doing the dividing since shortly after Bush was first elected. Now they have the chance to really muck things up. I just hope all these "conservative" Dems that were elected blunt the impact of the loonier leftists like Pelosi.
