GOP furious about timing of Rumsfeld resignation

I think they have a good argument.
Many races were decided by 1 or 2 percent.
If Bush would have made it look like he was flexible and gave a fresh face to the leadership running the war... the right would have kept many of those close races.
That being said, Bush did not do that and the Right has a chance to go back to actual conservatism...mainly to cut spending...that is where Republicans have become mini-democrats.

Bush's story is he was being principled and didn't want to inject "politics" right before the election.

What the?! Before or after, it's still injecting politics. Whether or not it would have helped, who the hell knows?

But I’m not going to join the bandwagon and trash the Prez. Regardless of how he’s handled entitlements and immigration, I’m behind him 100% on the war. Whether Rumsfield or Gates, as long as stands firm and does everything he can to accomplish the REAL objective of the “war on terror” he disserves all the support we can give him.

I think those are different issues...you can agree the war is justified, but this one decision seems to be poor (timing).
The positive thing is that republicans hopefully will go back to core values

I think that was Blamin's main point, Game. If it's politics before OR after, why not before when it might have done some good?

Personally, if he didn't pull the trigger before the election, he should have holstered the gun. Bring new people on board, sure. But making Rummy take a bullet because of the left's distorted perception of the war seems a bit wussy-like. Instead, they should be stepping up efforts to explain and highlight the accomplishments in Iraq---something that should have been done from the first Dem pants wetting. The left needs to be forced to defend their positions and providing proof of any alleged failure in Iraq is a good start.

I do however agree with getting back to the core values of the party and hammering those as well.

When was the last time they did follow their core values?
