After surviving 20 million years, China's goddess of the river is driven to extinction

I'm not for all the things crazy environmentalist whackos are for, but come on, we can't keep an animal from going extinct?
Where are the crazies on this one?
They should be up in arms....except that it is not the US being evil, so some people just can't get the energy up to protest and yell.

China and the third world are polluting this world at historic levels...
And no one does a damn thing, we are still complaining that the US didn't sign the worthless Keyoto (sp?) accord...

Those whackoes DO get up in arms about it. You just arent watching the news that covers it. Since a river dolphin going extinct in china doesnt sell shit in the US, nobody is going to make it a prime time story.

One, the so-called "corporate" media never reports the good President Bush has done for the environment. Bush created the largest marine reserve area in the world off the coast of Hawaii, protecting more than 7,000 species. Bush and the Republicans just signed a bill to restore fish and wildlife habitats in the Great Lakes region in October. Bush in October also just signed the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act, which beefs up environmental protection in California. Bush has imposed cuts on mercury emissions from power plants. Bush implemented stricter ozone standards. Bush allocated 8 Billion to be spent on cleaning up the Everglades.

The Marxists hate Bush for stuff like promoting ANWR drilling, since they're anticapitalist. To take another example, the Kyoto Protocol excepts the socialists in China from **any** compliance, Gee, I wonder why the leftists allowed that to happen. And they have the nerve to attack Bush for not signing that piece of crap.

Capitalist, liberal democracies have a much better environmental record than these people's states working for the common good, protecting the benighted proles against the so-called greedy corporations. We forget the American Way empowers **people** and look to government to solve not some, but ALL of our problems, creating more in the process.

Interestingly, the organization that is the biggest polluter in the entire world isn't Dow Chemical or ExxonMobil or the General Electric-- it is the United States government.

Unforuntately, too many in the environmentalist movement are watermelons -- they are green on the outside, and red on the inside, and care more about advancing socialism than they do about the environment. Why should the liberals in the media criticize the red Chinese, since the Chinese "care" about the "common good" and stand up to big bad Bush? Take another example-- illegal immigration puts strain on our environment, but many affluent suburban Greenies think it is "bigoted" to enforce any laws when it comes to citizens -- scratch that -- foreign nationals less fortunate than those latte drinking SUV-driving activists.

But if we consider those species that have gone the way of extinction, just how have we suffered for it? I'm not saying that losing another is OK, just that it feels like more gloom and dooming from the greenies.

I think rhyno is right. ditto.

jason..why do people on the right always equate liberals with people they don't like, from terrorist fundies to communists. You are to deep in the senseless hyperbole with that stuff. Learn to discriminate!

"Liberal" in America is simply shorthand for socialist. The Democrats are a leftist party like Labour in the UK, the Socialist Workers Party in Spain, the Socialist Party in France, the Social Democrats in Germany, the Australian Labor Party, the Democratic Party of the Left in Italy, the Social Democratic Party in Sweden and so forth.

The all have roughly the same set of ideas and vision of how the world is.

The only reason why American socialists don't call themselves socialists is because of the negative connotations associated with socialism during the Cold War. When people think "liberal" around the world, usually they think John Stuart Mill, Milton Friedman, Friedrich von Hayek, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and so forth.

"Conservative" in America is simply shorthand for fascist. The Republicans are a rightist party like the British National Party in the UK, the National Front in France, the Conservative Party in South Africa, the NDP in Germany, the Vigilance Party in Switzerland, the ACT Party in New Zealand, the Law and Justice Party of Poland and so forth.

The all have roughly the same set of ideas and vision of how the world is.

The only reason why American fascists don't call themselves fascists is because of the negative connotations associated with fasism during the Second World War. When people think "conservative" around the world, usually they think Leo Strauss, Antonin Scalia, Irving Kristol, George W. Bush, John Major and so forth.

Jim,

Very clever. Unfortunately, your parody doesn't match reality in the least, aside from the use of names like Scalia, Bush & Major. I'm not familiar with Strauss (is he the jeans guy?) or Kristol, though I know of another Kristol who's conservative.

In any case, there is no comparison between a true American conservative and fascism. It's only what the libs like to believe. The basic conservative philosophy does not match fascism in the least, but the basic lib philosophy is definitely socialist in nature. Just because we are on the opposite side of the philosophical divide does not mean that we are necessarily fascist. No one is looking to be the type of government that your typical fascist puts up. It's a similar case to reducing the amount of tax increase and calling it a cut, even though the expenditure is still greater than previous. Libs like to go over the top to scare up supporters. I use the term "scare up" on purpose. In the meantime, lib programs match very closely to socialist programs in other countries who proudly proclaim their socialism. Libs hide from the term even though it's a good fit, but conservatives dislike the term fascist because it doesn't fit at all. Never did. Nice try though.

If the chinese are so good at making animals extinct, then why can't they make illegal immigrants extinct in the US? lol...

But seriously, folks, I love dolphins. Don't you be cavalier about this. I'd have to come over there and smack you. This is sad, whether you think so or not.
