Gallagher Ga-Ga For Obama: 'Solid Ideas, A Moderate'

Obama - moderate? If Mike would check Obama's record, as we did here, he'd find that in addition to having received a perfect 100% rating last year from the paleo-liberals at Americans for Democratic Action, a host of other ratings Barack has received screams "cookie-cutter left-wing Democrat":

* Planned Parenthood 100% in 2006.
* National Right to Life Committee 0% in 2005-2006.
* Americans for Tax Reform 0% in 2005.
* NAACP 100% in 2005.
* American Conservative Union 8 percent in 2005.
* Illinois Environmental Council 100% in 2003.
* Children's Defense Fund [Hillary's old beat] 100% in 2005.
* National Organization For Women 100% in 2005.
* NRA, 'F' in 2004.
* Federation for American Immigration Reform 0% in 2005.
* 2005 AFL-CIO 92%.

Once again, this is how media bias makes it an unfair playing field. People listen to this guy who doesn't have a clue, who is in love with Obama because he is a Dem who might be able to win back the White House, and he spews misinformation.
Obama is in no way a "moderate"
But people listen to this story and don't know any better, and that gives Obama the advantage.

Obama is as moderate as Cynthia McKinney.

On some issues he is downright horrible. Here's a taste:

------------------
Despite his talk of promoting reading among inner-city youth, Obama has repeatedly opposed bills designed to promote discipline in public schools. In 2001, he twice voted "no" on a bill to let school districts require unruly students to complete suspensions before they can be shuffled into a new school district. He voted "present" on an almost unanimously passed bill requiring adult prosecution for students who fire guns on school grounds.

Obama has been markedly soft on crime. In 2001, he voted against a bill that added extra penalties for crimes committed in furtherance of gang activities. He also voted against a bill making it a criminal offense for accused gang members, free on bond or on probation, to associate with known gang members. In 1999, he was the only state senator to vote against a bill prohibiting early prison release for criminal sexual abusers.

Obama has a long record of supporting tax increases as well, although he rarely had the opportunity before Democrats took over the Illinois Senate in 2002. Despite Democratic rhetoric on the high cost of health care, Obama voted last May to hike the tax on insurance premiums. Although this tax is levied on corporations, it effectively raises rates for consumers. The same day, Obama voted to preserve Illinois' death tax, increase taxes on casino visitors, and charge new sales taxes on businesses.

As if that wasn't enough, he outdid himself on his no vote regarding a "Born Alive" bill that would have spared the lives of children who were aborted, yet survived the procedure. Without debating all the lame arguments put forth in support of abortion, none of those matter when the child is out of the mother and living. If there was something wrong with the bill in the liberal eyes of this pretender, he never, as far as I'm aware, offered an alternative that would protect these innocent and most vulnerable lives. Dispicable.

And as far as gay "rights", he has, as a relative newcomer to Christianity, says he needs to consider the issue in light of Scripture. Fortunately for him, he's a member of the United Church of Christ, a notoriously liberal denomination which prides itself on being the first to ordain an openly gay man. With the UCC's support for individual interpretation, particularly those who have miraculously found that thousands of years of scholarly positions on the Bible's denunciation of homosexual behavior were wrong, I'm sure they will properly guide his perspective on the matter.

I wonder where Gallagher is getting his Obama info to come to his wacky conclusions.

If Obama was the nominee I would vote for him but I think, contrary to all the hoopala, that you will find many dems not ready to support him in the primary. He is waaay to new. Of course with the drastically weak bench that the right has theses days it shouldn't be to hard to win.:-)

Other than winning election to the US Senate, WHAT has either Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama done????

Be specific with legialation passed. Talking about things DOES NOT count, Jim.

Ron,

There are plenty of places to review Obama's record, though Jason and I touched on most of them. Do you really think he's worth a vote? I can't fathom the thinking that sees who he really is and stil says, "That's the guy for me!"

Marshall, first of all votes do not always tell the whole story until you present it and give the person the chance to explain why they voted that way. it is not always how it looks. Beyond that he would be better than any republican I can think of besides just maybe Hagel. Republicans have destroyed this country and its freedom loving constitutionin my humble opinion. You may see liberals as anti american but I see the neocons in the same light, for different reasons. Actually the same reasons. Cons think we hate america and are giving into the terrorists if we don't support their ideas. I think they are giving into the terrorists by changing the freedom Americans enjoy(ed).

Well, see, there you go, Ron. That you would see Obama as better than most Republicans baffles me. Most Reps aren't as far to the right as Obama is to the left. Aren't you one who defines yourself as more of a moderate? Forgive me if I am mistaken, but if that's true, why would you think such an extremist is better than the average Republican?

I would ask you which liberties have you lost due to any conservative? Here's one or two that I've lost due to lefties: The right to bear arms. Can't carry a gun in public. The right to keep as much of my money as possible due to liberal raising of taxes used for things for which I don't believe the feds have any business spending money. The right to life for those unfortunate to be conceived by selfish and unthinking parents. These are just a few off the top of my head and each are Constitutionally improper. Obama supports all of these and more. He is downright unAmerican in his twisted beliefs. Fear factor? As high as Hillary. That's not good.

And cons don't think all libs hate America. They think there is an extreme faction that does as well as many empty-headed liberal celebrities and they've said as much. Mostly, though, cons believe lefties to be less than intelligent in their policy positions and history has tended to prove this correct.
