As usual, the paper does a poor job of reporting a story, so I'll help them.
I was at this game, so I can fill you in a bit.
First of all, the WIAA lists the official capacity of Bradley Tech at 1500. The story says 1000 tickets were sold, and one TV news station reported 1100. If there were 500 empty seats it did not look like it. Maybe the obesity problem has entered the world of overcrowding at gyms. Maybe too many students need to seats to sit down.
In the fourth quarter and overtime, no seats were needed because the focus of the crowd was not on basketball, but dancing in the isles. For the last 3 minutes of regulation and all over overtime, the gym became more and more out of control. I was siting three rows up behind the Tech bench, and just about the entire floor behind the Tech bench was full of students. Many of them girls yelling at other people in the crowd about how they were going to shoot them after the game.
As soon as Shane Woods missed a three pointer for the win, I was headed for the door. Somehow, the Tech students broke through the police tape stretched out to stop them from running on the floor. I told my friend that the 15 or so cops in the gym were not going to be able to do anything to stop what was going on as we left. I guess I was correct.
As I drove down National Ave. I saw 15 squads going toward Bradley Tech. That was in a 5 minute span from 3rd to 27th street. In all, around 50 squad cars were eventually on the scene.
As far as the actual brawl, I was smart enough to have left, probably about one minute before it started.

Liberals – this is the society you have wrought.
Large groups of people that have little notion of how civilized human beings are supposed to act. People who are consumed by need for the instant gratification of their various emotions. People who are driven by an “I want it all and I want it now” mentality. People who will look for any excuse to go crazy and act like raving lunatic animals. People whose attitudes are the direct result of liberal/progressive thought, attitudes, and groupthink philosophies.
There is no question, and if you all could look in the mirror and be totally honest with yourselves, you’d admit it. But no, there’ll be a steadfast denial, a steadfast refusal to look at the unintended consequences of their “good-intention” actions. How sad, how disgusting, how infuriating!
Terrorists of another kind. I feel for those who must live and work among these, the dregs of society.
Religion has been removed from schools and the public square. What has replaced it? "My truth". Things are so much better now.
My personal favortie line of the thugs is, "Don't disrespect me." Aside from good grammar also being removed from schools, how does anyone think they deserve respect? Respect is given one by others when it is earned. It can't be demanded. No amount of good deeds entitles one to demand respect from others.
I concur with Blamin. The philosophies furthered by those we now classify as liberals is the source of such contemptible behavior. It has been allowed to fester and it may be that drastic measures must be employed to control it. God help the children who must grow up with that surrounding them.
