Lets just look at some of the stories in the paper lately dealing with MPS...
11,152 calls to police: 'Shocking'
Who is it shocking to and why? This is reality. If the same standards of behavior were enforced in MPS as in the 'burbs, there would be 30, 40, or 100,000 calls to police. Just think about what is happening in MPS....I will bet that there have not been 11,000 police calls to every other school in the state in the history of Wisconsin combined. This shows the very low level of behavior of the children in the city. Just read the story about Tech to see the mentality of some of the people in the inner city. Fight between two kids (happens), but then cell phone calls made, now it is 20 people...some holding small kids while they hit others. Does that happen at Hartland Arrowhead?
Bradley Tech could use a surge of help amid escalating violence
Woman faces drug, weapons charges
School librarian accused of running crack house
I TAUGHT AT THIS SCHOOL...
How much learning can be done when you have crack house lords running the library...
I sound like a broken record, but we have to stop pretending to help this community and actually do something that helps.
High standards
Sever and consistent consequences
High expectations
Leaders need to spread the message of responsibility and community instead of blaming everyone else.
Instead we:
Blame teachers because kids can't read and have skills for a job. However, how can you teach a kid who misses at least one day of school a week?
Think of the newest "best practice" to get kids to learn...more rewards, more bribes, more "understanding"...sounds good, but when the kids have parents who don't care or even raise them....what happens in the classroom will not transfer over to the home.
Make sure you read these stories if you want to have even a clue about what happens in MPS

Scorpion says---
SHOCKING??? As you say, GAME,these
things happen every day. There are probably ten incidents each day the
Milwaukee "Urinal" doesn't use in the paper for each one they just have to report on.If people knew what actually goes on each day they would be appalled and sickened. It STILL comes down to actual PUNISHMENTS to fit the crime, and PARENTS being accountable and RESPONSIBLE for their children's actions.(should also include GUARDIANS obviously)
If a fine were deducted each month from the welfare/relief/paycheck,
until the problem of their child was eliminated,I'll bet the kid(s)
would make the behavior problem go
away as quickly as the deduction would take the money off the check.
Fine money could go directly to the
school fund that the child was causing problems at--providing much
needed money for the school.MPS would have needed funding without once again increasing taxes. This won't fly---makes too much sense.
Until the root of the problem, in other words, the secular progressives, are removed from positions of power and relegated to their proper position in society as freak show oddities, we’ll continue to have these problems, and I hate to say it, they’ll steadily get worse. God help us!
Good post. I grew up poor and there was no 'bribe' or 'understanding'!! :) Only spankings if we didn't behave or failed to do our home work!
Yes, we hated tough teachers and tough parents who demanded high performances - but when I look back, it all makes sense.
Unfortunately today's kids are taught to be irresponsible and blame everything on everybody. Absolutely no accountability.
It's really dissappointing.
Game,
Did you not read my last post on this issue when you had had a bad day?
Well, guess not.
Since you obviously didn't, I'm going to let you go find it so it sticks in your head this time, and then do yourself a favor: Go Do It. You've got the masters, dewd.
