I love what he said and what he said is correct. The Democrats plan is to see who can come up with the "best" way to lose. All we have here is someone who is not afraid of the liberal US media...well done sir.

"So if he is ginned up to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq," Obama said. "Otherwise it's just a bunch of empty rhetoric."
Typical lib response. Let's crap on the speaker rather than debate his message. So Howard can't talk unless he ponies up more troops. That's kinda like saying one of us can't talk about the war if we never served. Pretty lame. Very typical. Where's the genius we've heard so much about?
I think we should go after any Islamic terrorists and those who support them wherever possible. I haven’t seen any specific plan from Democrats other than re-deployment. Republicans – I don’t know what their plan either! Things are only getting worse in Iraq!! How come they couldn’t secure even a city if they had a plan? Yea – sure, Republicans have plan!!
And, Australian PM and his comments? He is just an embarrassment to true conservatives. If he really supports Iraq war, why did he send only 1400 troops mainly for non-combat operations? Obama is right – Australian PM is full of empty rhetoric. He is just another fake conservative!

Wars are contests of will between real, living people. This talk of "plans" is simply using the wrong vocabulary.

The Australia case just shows that the Democrats eagerly shit on America's most loyal friends, while they think there is moral righteousness in the utmost tolerance for our most lethal enemies. But don't you dare say they hate their country, let alone the West.
Jason,
Abso-freakin-lutely.
And now, to clarify for the, uh, challenged...
Any calls by the right for a plan by the left assumes a similar, if not the very same, goal of victory in achieving the goal of an independent Iraq that is fully capable of securing their own country. Pull-outs, re-deployments, or any other synomous term for "run away!!!" is not considered a plan, but a most ignoble defeat. We've done that before and it's caused the nation no small amount of grief and death. If you've been paying any attention whatsoever, you'll find that the Bush plan has been altered to supplying additional troops for maintaining a presence in Baghdad while chasing out the scumbags beyond the town's borders. A presence inhibits their return and allows the town to run as if there is no war. This will in turn give Iraqi security forces time to develop in the area while the citizens can go about living their lives in a normal fashion, which in itself, helps to lessen their desire to support the scumbags. This is a very general explanation of events as I understand them. I hope this helps. I doubt it will.
I agree obama's message is low class liberal response. But I also agree that if someone supports the war they should help out a bit more
It’s simple - You are judged based on your actions, not on rhetoric. I wish Australian PM understands it before he digs himself deeper into more embarrassment.
In this case, Obama has given a fitting reply. As a Prime Minister, if this is the best support he could give in the war on terrorism, probably he should shut his mouth and stop picking on others.
Howard doesn't have to send a single soldier in order to have the right to express his opinion on how bad it would be for Australia and the world if we pull out prematurely (like Obama's father should have). Anyone paying attention would come to that conclusion. There's certainly no embarrassment on Howard's part, and I'm sure he doesn't feel any as a result. To think Obama is worthy of support? Now that's embarrassing.
Theory sounds great to hear. At the end of the day, you are judged based on your actions, not on rhetoric. Simple!
Howard doesn’t have to send a single soldier….? I would have agreed with you if Howard is an ordinary man. But he is Australian PM and he can do better to support the war if he really meant what he said.
I may not agree with Obama on many issues. But, in this case, he gave a fitting reply. Those who can’t see the reality and come out of the party lines are the true embarrassment to true conservatives.
Nice try, Vittal,
But I don't see where one person can demand qualifiers for the opinions of another. Howard can say what he wants and the statement he made that got Obama's undies in a bunch was right on the money. If Obama had any real sack, he'd comment on the substance of Howard's statement, not on the amount of Aussies he's sent to the Mid East, which is an entirely different matter. Keep in mind, Howard's got his own cut and run libs to handle. I won't deny that I'd like to see more participation by other nations. The situation calls for it if they'd only open their eyes and stop listening to their own defeatists. But again, its a separate issue from the stated fact that America leaving is a bad thing for the world.
Nice try, Marshall art,
I think you are mixing up things here.
Substance of Howard’s statement? Before I start seeing substance in his statements, I want to see some action from that man!! Otherwise, it doesn’t mean anything to me! It’s like one of those countries crying about Guantanamo bay!! We have to see where the rhetoric is coming from. I know he has his own anti-war crowd to handle. But, it’s a lame excuse. What did he do in these three years? He could have committed more troops at the beginning when the opposition to war was minimal. Why are we not asking these questions before start ‘seeing’ substance in his statement? Obviously Obama didn’t miss the chance and hit him on the weakest spot.
Australian PM should have known better before started preaching to rest of the world. True conservatives should clearly reject these paper tigers and press for more actions.
"Oh hey guys in Solomon Islands, East Timor, Sinai, Sudan, Lebanon, Israel and Afghanistan, we want to ship you over to Iraq cause some left wing nuts in the country with the largest army in the world thinks we are not pulling our weight."
Before you undermine Australia's contribution take into account that outside your safe, secure world of delusional confines there is other countries in the world that occupy the oceans with their own respective problems.
"Oh but we are the US, you should all care about us because we are big and powerful. Therefore you should just waste your country's resources because it's all about us."
Dear Anon,
Perhaps you can educate Australian PM to stop bad mouthing others.
Good luck!
