In case you missed the video on "I Love the '80s," Rep. Murtha was caught on tape negotiating bribes with Arab sheiks during the FBI's Abscam investigation in 1980. The Abscam investigation was conducted by Jimmy Carter's Justice Department, not right-wing Republicans. On tape, Murtha told the undercover FBI agent: "When I make a f***in' deal I want to make sure that I know exactly what I'm doing and ... what I'm sayin' is, a few investments in my district ..."
Murtha added that he wanted the investment in his district to look like it was done "legitimately ... when I say legitimately, I'm talking about so these bastards up here can't say to me ... 'Jesus Christ, ah, this happened,' then he (someone else), in order to get immunity so he doesn't go to jail, he starts talking and fingering people and then the son of a bitch all falls apart."

Game, don't you ever get tired of spouting the same old unsupportable assertions? This crap has been debunked many times over.
Was Murtha ever tried? No. Why? Because Reagan's US Attorney's office concluded that Murtha's intent was to obtain monetary investment in his Congressional district.
Why don't you bookmark this posting for the next time you bring up this bullshit topic?

And Coulter didn't even begin to discuss Murtha's role in getting Clinton to surrender to Islamist radicals in Somalia in 1993.
Jason, Jim doesn't care that Murtha is on tape, just like he doesn't care that his President lied under oath, that Kennedy drown a woman, that many in his party have called our troops Nazi's...short term memory
Jason and Game, I'm not 100% positive but I'd be willing to bet that the US Attorney's office (Reagan's BTW) also watched the tape. They came to a different conclusion from wingnuts.
And Game, why do you continue to spout lies? I have many times, right here on this blog, said that Clinton did a bad thing by lying under oath. Most people in this country AND the Republican-controlled Senate did not believe that this rose to the level of an impeachment conviction.
If Libby is convicted will you admit that his crime was egregious?
Further lies: Kennedy did not drown a woman. He drove a car and had a terrible accident. Drinking may have contributed, but there is not a single shred of evidence that he "drowned at woman." None. To assert that is a lie.
Nobody in the Democratic party has ever called our troops Nazis. None. Find some source that quotes any Democrat of note who has called our troops Nazis and I'll retract this statement. Otherwise, it's a lie.

That's really being intellectually dishonest, don't you think? "Pencil" Dick Durbin made comparisons of our people at Gitmo to Pol Pot, "Pour me another" Kennedy has compared our people at Abu Graib to Hussein, "Flipper" Kerry has accused our troops of terrorizing and raping Iraqis, and others on the left accuse the troops of killing civilians, as if they're targeting them. To say that no one ever used the word "Nazi", and I'm not saying it hasn't happened, is really playing a semantic game.
Also, I believe that if you're legally drunk, and someone dies as a result of you being the driver when the car slams into a tree or goes off the road into a river, you are held as responsible for that person's death. At least in my state you are. So if the law wasn't in effect at the time of Chappaquidick, does that mean he's free of responsibility regarding Kopeckni's death? I don't think so.
There's also a HUGE difference between lying on the stand over whether or not on had sex with a woman, and remembering some extremely minor detail about a non-crime. If Libby's convicted, it'll be a major miscarraige of justice and a totally meaningless conviction.
As for Murtha, you'd have to be very forgiving to view the video and come away believing he was pristine in his intentions. One hates to jump to conclusions, but the fact that he was able to slide while others were brought down is only his good fortune.
Jim, you are just a slimy liar. You are no better than Herr Goebbels. You Democrats have been cutting and running since 1864 when the Dem VP candidate under replaced Gen. McClellan declared that if the Dems win in 1864 that the war would end and the Union would withdraw the Union army immediately.

Too bad the troops didn't frag Murtha when they had the chance.

Dick Durbin did no such thing. He described the first hand account of an FBI Agent:
"If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime -- Pol Pot or others -- that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners."

You can claim semantic games all you want. I can make up my own. Coulter does every time she lifts her pen or opens her mouth. So if you are going to claim Dems call our troops Nazi's, prove it.
Give it up on Kennedy and Kopecny. There is no real evidence of what he did or didn't do one way or the other. Something bad happened, he may have been legally drunk. He may have been guilty of a crime. Or NOT. WE WILL NEVER KNOW. It was 38 f**king years ago. Give it up.
"extremely minor detail". Oh yeah, impeding an investigation is really minor. We'll let the jury decide. And there is a huge difference between lying about sex where no classified information is involved, and lying about who told you about the classified identity of a covert CIA agent.
Regarding Murtha, I don't have to be forgiving at all. I'm not making the call. I only have to accept the judgment of Ronald Reagan's US Attorney as I have previously cited.

You unhinged liar. Durbin did compare US troops to Nazis and got called on it to the poing he tried a half assed apology.
We will give up on the traitor Kennedy when the traitor Kennedy is no longer in any elected or appointed office.
Why do we think Democrats are ethically challenged? Just look at your leaders. Clinton didn't meet a woman he wouldn't sexually harass and YOU and other Democrats can acknowledge it and condenm Bubba for it.
William Jefferson gets caught taking bribes and also commandeering a National Guard Truck and a squad of National Guardsmen to rescue his belongings, not helping one single New Orleans resident.
Now you still wonder why you are considered corrupt and dishonest? You only prove it daily.
