Seen as a glimmer of light in a see of darkness, the cell phone ban seems to be working.
I have been sent emails telling me of the different policies different schools are using to get rid of the cell phones. (another problem with MPS, they say no cell phones, then leave it up to each school to figure out how to do it).
At one school, 25% of the kids were searched and only 15 cell phones were found. That might not sound good, but considering before the ban they probably would have found 100, this is great success.

A glimmer of something in a very negative week for MPS.Dare we hope for more positives next week?????
Why don't they allow the students to carry cell phones but require they keep them turned off during school hours? They mmay need them to call their parents to pick them up after school or for emergency's after school.
You know,in this area, you can't find pay phones anywhere any more. How else will they contact people when needed?
Mark, you are thinking as if these are good kids we are talking about. Inner city schools have to make rules that go above and beyond what is needed in a normal situation.
The kids can't follow rules, be respectful and avoid temptation...so drastic measures are needed to help them.
